Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Most who know me, also know that I would not normally make this kind of statement, however, I have an idea with regards to the target that is obviously being placed on the Warmwater Angler's backs.

Maybe it's time for us as a group to demand participation in the process or we refuse to buy licenses. We have been faced with Lead Bans, Hook Regs, Loons, and now the changes proposed to the Columbia. None of which were based on sound science, each and every one of these issues were emotional based. I think it's time for us, as a group, to get emotional.

I know that I have NEVER been checked for a license. The money I have spent over the years, I could cover a lot of "Fishing Without a License" tickets. I know that if we refuse to purchase licenses as a group it will hit WDFW's pocket book much harder than any tickets they will issue, as enforcement is almost non-existent.

We would have to get the Tournament Director's blessing to make this infraction as one that would not disqualify you. One person won't make a difference, but as a group we can. Now is the time for this to gain steam, so that as licences become due, we will have numbers enough to matter.

Thoughts?

I would like to be at that meeting. Maybe we could shave an additional 5-10 minutes off the alloted time.

Dana - we need to have a beer and solve ALL of the country's problems. I think we could do it in about 45 minutes!

Like I have said before! Quit voting in the queers and the tree huggers. Start voting in the rednecks that support fishing, hunting and the "American way of life". This is how this country was founded and operated for many years, maybe we have become a little to liberal to defend ourselves. I also suggest that you vote for individuals with a penis! Can you imagine what the other country leaders say behind closed doors, after meeting with Hillary "butt ugly" Clinton? Put your pants back on men and quit carrying your womans purse! We shouldn't be intimidated by our goverment officials, they should be intimidated by us! Don't ever forget, that we as many pack the hammer.

I understand how you feel about the topic jon , trust me this is complete Bull to say the least.

However , like others have mentioned aboved . Taking the law into your own hands or breaking the law is not the best answer imho bud . I have always felt that due to the fact that the bass community in washington state is extremely small in comparison to the Salmon & trout anglers is what gives us a small voice . It is sooo very obvious that this state is not overly concerned about bass population or the impact that our fisheries will suffer  due too there recent decisions on the columbia river .

Sending letters , emails , phone calls , etc are small steps that does sometime make a small difference .

Will it be good enough to overturn the states decision ? I personaly dont think it will !!

The reason i say this is because at the end of day the state of washington is not dependant upon the bass species population to produce the majority of the revenue for olmypia.

Our bass tourney events make an impact on local business owners for the most part . Gastations , resturants , hotels , tackle stores , etc . Yes the state makes a little money from the purchase of permits from all of the hosting tourney directors , but outside of that the only other revenue produce is from the purchase of fishing licenese. I honestly believe that contributed to the state going after NW bass for back tax $ . There is no simple answer here guys  .

electing the proper officials into office is one way to go , our last president of the USA was a bass angler. Our current nations leader would stare at you with a blank face if he was pose with a quetion in regards to bass fishing in america , are we are feeling the impact of this ?  hell yes , catch my drift :)

Your state voters registration card is far more superior than your states fishing license ! Change has to start in Washington , DC in order for it benifit Washington state  ..real talk :)

Does your ATV look like this? Typically there is a bonus to the licenses for these, they also come with a "Parking Pass" (It's blue and hangs from the mirror).

Jon,

I am totally with you on this one! Several years ago the state took away a lot of areas where atv's were allowed to be used. I did the math and figured out if I made it 3 years without getting caught then I was money way way ahead. It has been 8 years and I haven't been caught yet. I was paying more and more for less and less areas to use. Needless to say that machine will NEVER be licensed!

Uhhhh....Jon....you can probably walk backwards fast enough to stay ahead of him by the looks of it...lol

I don't know you Dana but you've got my vote for president! Of course I'm not on welfare so it won't do you any good...

What happened with the Columbia? Was there some change to the fishing reg? I've been out of the area for a while.. hey Jon!

Dana, you've hit the nail on the head again.

Still waiting to hear if tournament directors will waive this infraction. If they will, I won't have a license this year - guaranteed!

I'm suprised that this discussion has not created more stir. You limp wrister's just voted in a President for a second term, that thinks it's OK for two guys to "CORNHOLE" each other. What happened to the moral thread that made this country strong? I'm so glad I decided not to have children, I couldn't imagine having to explain this crap to a young child. No, it's not OK to be a queer. No, I don't think my tax money should give you any rights. And no, I don't support the direction of our current goverment. God, family, guns and respect for our country. The rest of you p****** can leave!!!!!!!!

Guess I'll Google it...

Jon,

I went to the website, read over the proposed changes, and left my comments. My thoughts, the rivers are pretty solid right now and any modification whether it's increasing or decreasing catch rate can only detriment the population. I mean when I think about getting a fishing license each year the river is a big part of the fun factor. With that said the fact that we pay additional dollars for the Columbia River should make the wildlife folks accountable to the bass anglers of the PNW. I'm not sure the licensing system allows for them to really sample who's fishing for what.

A remedy for that, each angler should have the option for purchasing licenses specific to what they target similiar to hunting tags. I believe the proof would be in the pudding on where the state should be alotting there efforts to maintaining a quality angler experience. I just hate to assume that money I pay, to target bass alone, is contributing to a plot to decrease one of the only real striving bass populations in the area.

I'd like to see their research as in comparison I've read several studies completed at the Univeristy of Washington on the effects of bass on the salmon population on Lake W and none came close to  prooving a fault on the bass's side. I'd imagine as always the finger is continuing to be pointed at everything but the large dams placed throughout major river systems.
