Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Can anyone share their insights for fishing for Smallies at Lake Washington?

I have had some success skipping deeper docks, deep structure and crankbaiting the outer edge of weedlines, but was looking for some other options. Any help is appreciated!

Ashley,

I recommend you join a local club.  No one is going to give you any advice on where to fish on a public forum.  However, once you join a local fishing club like Western Bass Club (www.westernbassclub.com) or any of the other great local clubs, they usually share a good bit of useful info.  Just to emphasize my point, your comment has been viewed 105 times as I am writing this and I am the only one to actually say anything.  Good luck!

Thank you Craig for the recommendation.

Ashley, please come visit us at Western Bass Club. We are willing to help you on that learning curve to success in Washington fishing.

I am posting as I saw the topic and had to look. As someone that is new to boat fishing Lake Wa, I am on the lower end of the learning curve and have been blanked so far this spring. It sounds like Ashley isn't looking for honey holes, but more of a discussion on techniques. For me, the thrill is finding spots/fish on my own, but knowing where to start technique-wise, could be helpful. I pulled up on several locals yesterday that looked fishy as heck, with surface temps in the high 50s to near 60 degrees. I thought for sure fish would be near...not so much :) Good luck Ahsley and joining a club does sound liek a great way to meet fellow anglers and shorten the curve, especially on a large body of water, like Lake WA.

10Key is correct to say I was simply looking for suggestions on how to fish the lake, not specific spots. I appreciate all of the feedback and will definately look into the Western Bass Club. Thanks again!

Thanks for the offer Don, but I am not able to go tomorrow. Also appreciate your insight on the importance of catch and release.

What cartography do you guys use for Lake Washington?

How often do you update your chartplotter chips?

The U.S. Coast Guard issues a Local Notice to Mariners which details changes to the buoy & light system, hazards to navigation and other marine safety issues and that this vital safety update occurs WEEKLY?

So if we're talking years since your last update you can see why it's beneficial for you to get this done!

Fortunately, Navionics is offering a killer deal on it's wonderful Platinum + Marine Charts. Platinum cards offer extraordinary viewing options: 3D View, satellite overlay, and panoramic pictures that enhance any boating experience.

Here's a link to the info: http://www.navionics.com/en/news/platinum-sale-april-1-30-2016

The unique integration of the satellite view with Navionics enhanced SonarChart cartography is an amazing navigational advance that is a wonderful way to keep all aboard your vessel safe and informed!

Here's a shot of the Coulon Park that may keep you from having to answer all those "what's that over there" landmark questions from your inquisitive passengers...

Navionics real-time tide and current information which had fundamentally changed the way I fish is also embedded in this chip and I cannot imagine leaving port without it!
