Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

North West Sportsman's magazine reports that the Muckleshoot tribe is gillnetting in Lake Washington and Sammamish under the justification of studying walleye and acoustical tagging. But the article also mentions that they are studying if there is a viable commercial fishery for bass, walleye and perch. Are they seriously considering commercial fishing bass populations in both lakes? Are we bass fishers of so little importance that this idea has merit? If gillnetting does for bass fishing what they have already done to salmon and steelhead fishing what is our future?

They did this last year. Last year's results found it not a worthy commercial fishery. But they did find eyes and a northern pike. It will be interesting to see this year's outcome. Sad that this is even a possibility and they would consider commercially harvesting warm water species
