This is freakin' awesome. Has anyone else ever had this happen where you were able to land a fish when reeling in a much smaller one?

Friggin' nailed it!  Hack attack does it again.  What an awesome catch.

I've had a similar instance at Tapps where my line just got "HEAVY" and I looked down to see a 1 lb SM sideways in the jaws of a Tiger Musky...but as he broke the surface, opened his mouth before I could grab him.  So I guess I haven't actually landed one  :(

That was awesome!

The most memorable time this happened to me was at Silver Lk. In Kapowsin valley. I was top water fishing on an early August morning. I hooked up on a small largemouth of about 12". I was reeling in the fish when the rod became very heavy. I had seen some otters a bit earlier and the thought crossed my mind that an otter had tried to take the bass. I thought this until my line began to trace away from the boat and I knew whatever was at the other end was going to surface. Once it broke the water I could see it was a huge largemouth. The smaller one was on the end hook and the large one had taken the body of the bait. Once it got it into the boat, it weighed in just under 8 pounds.
Nice

I have actually seen this happen twice. The first time was fly fishing on Crab Creek when a giant brown trout attacked a 10-11" Brooke trout that my buddy had buttoned. He did not land that fish but fought it for quite a while.

The second time happened to me and my son when a Tiger Muskie engulfed a trout my son was reeling in. We landed that one. It wasn't a big Muskie but it was awesome!

Cool vid.  This happens frequently with ling cod shortly after you hook a smaller one.  They are awesome predators.

this is the reason i started bass fishing....was crappie fishing lake cassidy when i was 12 and caught a nice one and was trying to release it (yes i even practiced catch and release when i was 12) and a giant largie came out from under the dock and ate it pretty much right out of my hand. scared the sh#$ outa me and i knew i had to catch that fish...... also happened when i was salmon fishing the bubble and watched a seal come up and grab my salmon right at the boat and tore it in half....(not near as cool as the bass)
