Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

With the season winding down I thought it would be interesting to see pictures of everyone's personal best Largemouth and Smallmouth as well as a brief story and/or bait that it was caught on. I'll start:

Largemouth: 7.3lbs

I caught this on a 6" senko on the Columbia River out of Tri-Cities during a Northwest Bass tournament that eventually got us the win. We had caught a handful of smaller largemouth out of the same area just before and then this one came around for one heck of an upgrade!

Smallmouth: 5lbs 15oz

I caught this big brown fish on Lake Sammamish in the spring on a 1oz bass patrol skirted jig with a hand poured beaver trailer. I had already made a few presentations to this area with smaller baits and figured i'd give the bigger, bulky bait a few casts before moving on. Since I was prefishing, I immediately left the area and went on to my next spot where I caught a 5lb 5oz on my next cast. Needless to say, I didn't make a cast for the rest of the day and spent the rest of my time on the big motor looking at my finders.

The day started off el Sucko. Couldn't even catch little ones on Drop Shot, so I decided to fish an area I really never fish due to lack of success. I throw my favorite Senko up shallow in about 1.5' and BAMM. A Monster took it and ran like hell. Took me through a dock ladder and tried to wrap me for a break off, but I motored right up to him and slowly worked him though the ladder rungs. It was hard, due to I was using a Med spinning rod. She was a skinny-spawned out fish, but super long. Like 2 feet long! She is my new P.B fish at 7.1lbs. Would have been 7.5 to 8 a month earlier. How fun is that?  Lost like 3 lately that were bigger.  One due to netting issues.  This has been the best fishing year of my life.  I thank God for it.

My El Salto 9-2 two cranks with a 3/4 oz Johnson Spinner Bait and fight was on 12 lb test. Probably a little light on the line size but made it way more fun.

9 lbs 7 caught today 9/28 on a War Eagle spinnerbait. Had fished the area an hour before with nothing. Dded to hit it again. Glad I did.
