The gentleman that lost the boat are in my club. They were both wet and shook up but ok. They are planning the salvage as we speak. They were rescued by the Bow Carp fisherman and returned safely to the dock. It was a bilge pump malfunction.

That's quite the bilge pump malfunction. Imagine not knowing anything and coming upon a capsized half sunk 20ft bass boat with trolling motor deployed! Wild...

Glad they're all o.k! Does anyone know anything about the bass boat/trailer that came unhooked from its tow rig around Ellensburg this past weekend???

I'm a little confused how a malfunctioning bilge could cause a boat to flip over... I can see it slowly sinking upright but flipped over? They didn't flat spin, the trolling motor is still deployed. Did they get swamped/tipped? Strange. I'm just curious about the events since that picture is a bit disturbing.

WOW.....that makes me sick to my stomach. Glad to hear they are ok.  I too am curious about what kind of bilge malfunction would cause this.

must of creeped up on them? almost happened to me at Whatcom lake lol that little plug in the back can be VERY important!

Lesson learned I presume make sure bilge and auto bilge pumps are working before going out, they can and are lifesavers not to mention they are alot cheaper than a new boat!

I don't understand why they wouldn't have run it up on an island or shallow water as soon as they saw the boat was flooding. I would think they were around some shallow water.

There has to be more to the story. The only scenario I can think of is they were taking on water and before they realized they were in trouble they got swamped by a wake or something and that was the tipping point. Not sure how it turned over though. That one has me puzzled.

I wanted to report that the boat has been recovered. A special shout out to the Othello search and rescue. A donation will be made to assist in future missions.

The important thing is it will not be a safety hazard for the Potholes Open contestants and the ecological threat has been minimized.

Good luck be careful and whack em.
