Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I'm going to be down at Silver Lake in August. I used to fish club tournaments down there all the time but always in the Spring. Does anyone know how the fishing is that time of year?

Check out last year's aba results to get an idea....Tough

I fished it in Aug. once a few years back and was told by a local and even given a couple baits by the same guy...find wood/logs and or rocks he said. I was tossing a chart/white spinnerbait and catching a few fish. He gave me a couple of shallow squarebill crankbaits that I caught fish on as well. I still have em.

I'll echo Chad's response... SLOW. Not many fish and not great size. But the cool thing about silver is it is very unique in how it lays out. There's piling rows, rock flats, submerged wood, islands and surrounded by lily pads. Good luck.

Thanks guys.

Submerged logs in 4-5 feet I find hold more fish in late July and August. Jigs in black/blue with craw trailers work very well. Jigs skipped under docks etc.

I would rather look at the lake and turn around and drive back to Olympia!

But Ron - then you'd miss out on all the carp fishing and beer drinking with me and Chad on the docks. We'll supply the beer, you bring a case of canned corn.

I would bet we could catch one carp that would outweigh almost any 5 fish bag in August.

LOL, no wives?!!

Nope - Carp fishing is serious business. We can't have the wives and kids distracting us while we drink beer and make sure our rods don't get pulled into the water by those majestic golden beasts! LOL
