Has anyone had any experience/remarks regarding this technique? Is it valid, or just another way to get us to buy more Japanese lures?

Works great if the water is clear. Here is a video I did on it when I first started using them.

I've used it with success in gin clear water.  The majority of my baits came on the fall.  The Duo has a nice side to side shimmy when falling on slack line.

The question isn't if it works. The question is which bait are you going to put down in order to throw it? A senko? A fluke? A suspending jerkbait? A swimjig/spinnerbait/trap/swimbait?... Yes, because those baits have never produced!

For me, I like to avoid heavily weighted treble hook baits at all costs. Suspending jerkbaits, traps, and spooks are necessary evils. I feel that many subtle single hook baits are more proven to get bit than "su-pai baiting". Since its not a water covering presentation, it would have to outproduce single hook finesse baits to be viable. Good luck with that.

You consider a duo realis spinbait to be heavily weighted?

That's subjective, but the fact is they are 3/8oz for only a 3" bait. The 3.5" spin bait is 1/2 ounce. I would say that's pretty heavy. What you can't split hairs about is that you will lose more fish with it than a single hook lure.

If you want to throw a spook when they are whacking buzzbaits equally....be my guest.

Joe,

There is lots of information to browse through regarding the technique at their webpage, http://spybaiting.com/ .  It does work very well in the right conditions.  It is like a horizontal finesse presentation and I look forward to experimenting with the technique more this year.

Thanks, Mike.  I've seen the videos, and have the Duo Realis.  I have yet to get bit, but was trying to get some local input on the technique.

Yes they work pretty well. Have been selling them here at Limit Out Marine since they came out. We stock a ton of colors.

Dear Russ, and Mad-cow-ski,

I do not appreciate you putting anglers directly on the scent that I had worked so hard to throw them off of.

Ramparts...

I also look forward to cranking the new Realis G87 20A deep diver that is considerably smaller than other brands and will reach the 20 plus range. I did not catch this perch on it, but it shows the realism of the color scheme.

How big is that compared to the 6xd?
