first time going to tapps

So, Ive never fished tapps, fished everywhere else around the state but never this lake thats about 5 miles from my house. I snatched up acouple of my dads musky spinners and hard baits and im launching from the north end this saturday 7/23. all i have planned is too head south, cut to the east and fish those Fingers i see on google earth first thing in the mourning with a big buck spinner while the lady is huckin a crankbait or spinnerbait for smallies. after that, im kinda lost lOl. Just wonderin if anyone has got some pointers??? or suggestions??? I have some steel leaders, using my heavy action flippin stick (7ft BPS Bionic Blade) and thinkin about strippin off that 20lb mono and going to 80lb braid? Any thoughts folks?

Well i finally made it out to tapps! good looking lake, lots of docks and points, "no weeds for cover for baitfish to hold in" hmmmm.....had a great time, no musky's this time but put some nice little smallies in the boat for deep fryin! looking forward to going back!

Hey Will. Glad you made it out today. I stayed home. Little sore shouldered. There are weed beds out there just go to do some searching/scouting on your own. I will say some of the weeds are not where they used to be. But new beds are where they weren't last year. The areas I thought were weeds were actually millfoil and they are dead and gone. Let me know when your going out again. I am participating in the C.A.S.T for Kids Event this upcoming Saturday. So next Sunday I will more than likely be out there. Give me a holler..Todd

you could really see where the old weeds/milfoil was. Im gonna keep tryin, the fish are just kinda in limbo i guess from the herbicide treatment....thats my excuse lol all those smallies came out of 20 foot depths give or take a few feet, even the bait fish were down there. I went as a non-boater yesterday, Mr Mark took me out and showed me some spots, so im excited to go back and learn more,but i dont like the D.G.F'ers out there , a bunchof jerks. but i will hit yah up on that offer thou Todd! But this is the weekend ill be heading to banks lake with my dad. some walleyes and smallies!!
