Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Got two fish yesterday but what is extremely interesting is that my second fish that was 40" was a true Musky! I know people will say I'm wrong but Ive caught many Muskies in the mid west and there was not even the slightest doubt.

Wow Ed - got a picture?

Yea..I'm with Craig.

Though I think that is kinda cool..i guess. You check and see if was a male or female? And did you release it?

Just to clarify, I didn't ask if you had a picture because I didn't believe you Ed; I just thought it would be neat to see.  I am not questioning your integrity at all.  If you say you caught a true musky I believe you with or without a picture.  My assumption would be that one of the stockers a while back when we purchased them from MN was a true musky that slipped in and survived.

Did the musky have red fins? With no spots? She might have had more musky in her than pike. Maybe eh?

I do have a picture but as much crap as I have already received from local Musky experts Ill keep it.

It wouldn't surprise me if some pure eggs got into the hybrid eggs before they got shipped over here. I don't think WDFW has to worry about them breeding, they aren't known  for being very good at it.

Interesting..if your getting crap over it then maybe yank the discussion. You started the topic. If you're surprised by the questions you shouldn't be. Folks like seeing pictures just to see you know that. Its up to you whether u want the attention for it or not. So maybe just think about it more before u post it maybe. Good luck out there.

The large weedy flats at Mayfield would be perfect spawning habitat for true muskies. Wouldn't that be nice!!! Cool catch Ed.

As much as I would enjoy catching true muskies in Washington state,I don't think this would be embraced well by other anglers or WDFW. My concerns would be the WDFW tiger musky program coming to an end and any lakes with true 'ski's would be hit hard with eradication efforts. Not a biologist and won't pretend to be one but I would "think" Mayfield wouldn't be to difficult to kill off if pressure mounted. Anyhow, just my opinion.
