Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Howdy ya'll im new to the site and really new to washington. I moved here from missouri and i used to fish in a park there for trout all the time. Montauk was the name of it. it was a decent sized trout fishing park where they bread hatchery fish and dispersed them into the park downstream of the natural springs that kept the water in the park cool. i was wondering if there was anything like this or maybe a fishing park in Washington that had good access to the stream via the bank or some wading waters. if ya'll could help me out that would be great thanks

Nick~ you have a few parks on local rivers that can offer some decent fishing at certain times. And the time thing is the key on the West coast. Our rivers are pretty steep so they dont hold a lot of resident fish. Due to the lack of food, hence the evolutionary development into anadroums fish;ie-Salmon, Steelhead. These fish spend there time in the Ocean where there is ample food. Watch the timing of the fish runs a good one to start with this summer will be the pink salmon. You will be able to catch them at Bob Heirman park and thomas eddy park, both on the Snohomish river. Those will be great places to start in Mid to late August. Reiter ponds on the Skykomish, or the Tokul ck to plumbs landing area on the Snoqualmie are great spots to learn a lot and get into a few steelhead that will start when those areas open, check the regs but I believe Tokul opens June 6th and Reiter is usually opened August sometime they will anounce it.

Thanks for the info i'll check out some of those parks. Im trying to build up some fishing gear here in WA. Do i use more of a bass setup or should i get an Light/UL rod and reel. Im so used to fishing for 1 pound - 2 pound rainbows i really havent read up too much on steelhead and salmon. I was thinking about heading up to the La Wis Wis Campgrond and try fishing on the upper cowlitz river near clear fork/Ohanapecosh river Im kind of skeptical on how the fishing will be because i know the dams above the 2 big lakes along the river. Thanks again for the reply
