Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Hi,
I've never fished for salmon. I do not know what type of bait or lure to use and I am not sure how to set up the rod. I fished only as a kid.
I bought a rod and reel and would like to try fishing. I am waondering what I need to fish salmon from the shore. Or if anyone doesn't mind a newbie tagging along to learn, let me know. I can fish during the week.

Hi Davin,

Welcome to the website. The snohomish or skykomish river is a great place to start and now is the time. Rig yourself up with some small pink spoons or jigs and head on down to the river for some fast and furious pink salmon fishing. Bette yet, visit a local tackle shop and they will give you the run down. Three Rivers Marine and Tackle in Woodinville, or Auburn Sports and Marine are good places to start.

Where do you live Davin? I'm sure the guys can taylor something for you. You couldn't have started Salmon fishing at a better time, with the number being estimated this year.

I am in the Puyallup area, near Graham. I can and do travel all over so I can fish anyplace.

I second the Auburn Sports. If you have a chance talk to Todd Rock. He is a memeber on here but he knows his stuff on river fishing and bass fishing.

But if oyu get a chance to hit the puyallup river I would take it if I were you. Use yarn and corkies. Pink green red or peach. With a black orange green or red corkie.

I'll do that. Thanks. I'll be away for a week. Will they still be running in a week?

Ya! The silvers or coho as other people call them will be coming in thicker.
