May 16th on Lake Washington. More info to come.

Why so many open tournaments in May? This is the weekend after NW Bass hits the lake. Man wish it would have worked out and you still had the annual Sammamish open, but I understand why you are changing it, lack of participation....... but May is a grinder for tournaments

Yes our club did change the dates for this event this year . I Agree that the timing is not the best due to the fact that May Happens to be  a very busy month for bass events in general .

However,  Our Clubs decision to adjust the dates mostly centered around the "increased parking lot fee" That the City now charges for any bass tourneys taking place prior to opening day weekend .

In the past all that was required was simply a standard permit from the state to host our event . Now they also want an additional fee to "reserve" the parking lot as well . Too rich for our blood brother !!!

I hear ya Ron. But the last event we held at Sammamish, I was personally given a significant amount of grief from the park Ranger/Manager regarding tournaments and bass fishermen in general. He made it very clear that that community was not fond of our presence on that lake at all. He made it clear the he was in agreement with that sentiment.

An open at this time of year is new for us. Our options of lakes to host an open on this side of the state are extremely limited. We have put serious thought into not hosting a Spring open at all due to the high number of early season events. At this point we are moving forward with this Open in May.

These Open events are also a great opportunity for all to compete across club lines and get to know those anglers.

I appreciate your interest Ron. Top trier anglers in our community are a critical component in promoting all open events on our local waters. You have always been a great supporter of our events and that doesn't go unnoticed by us at Puyallup HawgHunters. Thanks

Thanks Mark, I liked the tradition of the club open tournaments, Potholes Open for example, the Sammamish Hawg Hunters Open use to be the one Open I looked forward to fishing every year!

The Park Ranger is an idiot and he works for the state, which in turn works for the taxpayers, maybe someone needs to remind him of this, and report him to the powers that be! He shouldn't be forgetting he is there to serve the people who use the park, and doesn't get payed to sleep in and not open the gate in time!
