Noticed that the Hawg Hunters have a permit for the end of the month. Will there be a Sammamish Open this year?

All we can do is make anglers aware of the state regulations. The only way you can 100% enforce any rule is to post a Marshal in every boat(not possible). This is no different than any other regulation or event rule enforcement.

Each of you are grown men capable of your own decisions and balancing that with integrity.

I know this. If one us are ticketed by game enforcement, it will be a reflection of us all. If we are easily identified as a group that will readily disregard state regs, than be prepared for the state to make efforts to restrict our access and ability to hold event in the future ie. increased permit cost, instated bass seasons, livewell limits. no cull rules. Can think of a lot more. I know I am giving the extreme.

Lets just all be smart out there and have a good event for everyone.

Good luck to everyone, and look forward to seeing you all there.

Well said Mark..agree 100%... see everyone there, rain or shine.

Other way around......

Bob hit it on the head.

Either way I'm there and I'll see you there Jon... heard you went "big time" for a partner so it'll be good to see you all out there.

Good stuff, it'll be fun. See ya'll there.

I am not a fan of the new rule by any means ! However it is a State rule so it should be followed !

Also , I really dont think that it is appropiate for The hosting fishing club or the tourney director playing a roll into the enforcement side of this matter by any means .

HELL NO , you can not see my baits !! YES , im following the rules this wkend !!

If an angler wants to run the risk of playing dirty ...Well , let the WDFW deal with them not another angler !! Thats how inocent people get hurt in our society , just ask the fine folks in florida how that works ..haha

You can beat this topic to death, obviously if someone is found to be using them they will be disqualified.

BTW just because you pinch the barb, doesn't mean that the hook has no barb, just mean it is pinched, so to a fault of the definition of barbless, everyone is breaking the law unless you completely remove the barb from the hook, filing or cutting.... stir stir stir

Enough already......who won? Turnout?

Not sure of the final results since I couldn't make it but I heard through the grapevine that Hobbs/Sessler put it on 'em with a 20lb sack.

The fishing was pretty good for some, the weather was tough..lots of wind and rain through out the day.Ron and Jon spanked um with almost 21,good job guys ,pretty impressive to say the least. Tom and Gabe had 17 plus with big fish,a green over 6. Gerald and i had 16 plus. And 4th was Joe Mitchell and Bob Higbee with 10 and change.
The turn out was very poor, only 9 boats. So thanks to those who showed up. Not sure whats gonna happen to this tournament next year so the HawgHunters will keep you updated.

I'm curious out of the 9 boats how many people encountered issues with the so called "barbless restriction"... to quote Ron: "stir stir stir"

Well,Gerald and i abided to all laws..out of the 14 fish we hooked we lost 3 half way up,was it due to a barbless hook? Not really sure, couple head shakes and they were gone..constant pressure back to the boat was key,and keeping them from jumping and spitting the hook.

Same....no laws violated or ignored.

We only lost one hooked fish, immediately after the hookset, so who's to say he was even "Hooked". Constant pressure, a fast reel and a ready net helped a lot.
