Saw an article from 2010 of walleye being caught in lake Washington, looked here on wafish, and found a discussion from same time period but it sort of petered out pretty quickly. I was wondering what came of this, is the walleye population increasing? Are they gone and the few fish caught were simply an anomaly? Ive been searching on Google and bing but I can't find anything new so I figured id post my query here instead and hope someone here has been following this a bit more closely

Good questions Ken. I've been trying to follow this as well but often come up short with any real solid answers. I know that they are there but no real data on population or spawning. Essentially, as far as I know the information just stops. Originally the Lake Washington walleye started off as rumors but nothing ever confirmed. Anytime a photo appeared it was questionable because of no or very limited background to confirm it being Lake Washington. Then some students from the University of Washington caught some in a sample which finally confirmed the rumors but again after that, it's gone fairly quiet. I and a few others on this forum also belong to northwestwalleye. Might be able to find some info there.
I have a friend who swears up and down he caught a small walleye in Lake Washington a couple of years ago.
Re-read the article Shawn "harvested" the fish. Let's keep the information accurate.

Wanted to give a very informal update for the interested...please email me directly if you want to discuss at length daniel.garrett@dfw.wa.gov
Walleye Collected To Date
2005-male, UW
2010- 2 males, UW
2011- 2 males, UW
Last week- 5 males, 1 female by I-90 bridge, WDFW and UW
Shawn McConville released his fish in 2010 off Coleman Pt, and it sounds like a few others may have been caught. If you catch one, please freeze it and email me. I believe all these fish are illegal transplants, and if walleye spawn (no evidence YET), the result may not be favorable for walleye or bass fishing. Tribal gill nets are in the water right now, looking for walleye. Walleye and bass overlap. Please help me spread the word. Let's not move walleye around, and undercut our ability to manage healthy bass populations in this highly sensitive area.
My mistake Jon. You are right. He kept the fish. Thank you for correcting me.
