Ranger Demo Day

Had the chance to get out on Washington this afternoon for fishing and test drive'n. After being in several boats, I actually prefered the Z21 over the Z520 or the 208. The Z21 was much roomier for my 6'6" frame. With only a 225, we were at 70mph in no time flat. I couldn't believe how quiet and smooth the ride was. I'll be getting a Z21 really soon! Thanks to Willie Nelson, Mel (State Team), Aaron and others for bringing the boats down. You sold me on the boat!

Local Natives-We have another win!

Fished early evening after work. 2-3 hour worth of wading through the cold, light brown & dark green river paid off for fishing partner Don & I.....Bang-a-Rang.
We went 2 for 2 on a pair of metal heads at a couple of local holes. Sure beats sitting around and watching the evening news!

Lake Washington in the Morning

Heading to Lake Washington tomorrow to get some smalljaw fishing in. I'll also be giving Ranger Boats test rides from 10-2pm tomorrow out of Gene Coulon park if anyone wants to check out the new Rangers (or my discounted 08 Ranger which is for sale).

Hook Removal

So I've seen a couple of good hook-in-finger type pics here and in case anyone wasn't aware I thought I would throw up some stuff on getting hooks out of yourself.

Make sure you have a first-aid kit and some cutters powerful enough for the thickest hook you have on board. You never know when this will happen (and even if you are confident it won't you can never truly be ready for others actions).

Save a Warden Fund

As you all know, the state of WA will be cutting several programs. Lowrance Side Viewing Announcement!

OK, I have had to keep this secret since December, but now that the Classic announcement was made I am allowed to spread the word. Check out Lowrance's new Side Viewing capability. The new HDS units will come with the software already installed, so all you need to add to your regular HDS unit is the Side Viewing transducer.

Sweat the Small Stuff

Hey, it's cool to see your fish pictures, but when we are a few hundred feet apert on the lake, it's easier to tell who you all are by your boat. Post a picture of your boat so everyone can identify everyone else better.

what on-board charger to buy?

I just upgraded to a 24volt trolling motor, and am in need of an on-board charger now. I was wondering what you guys have used and what you like/don't like. The old portable just isn't going to cut the mustard anymore. Also, value is a big deal. If one charger is $200 and another that is almost as good is $130, well, that needs to be a real consideration. THIS SPORT IS SO DAMN EXPENSIVE!!!

Lake Sammamish Open 4-4-09

Hey, April 4th, 2009, is the annual Lake Sammamish Open put on by the Puyallup Hawg Hunters. Entry fees are $120, $20 option and $20 big fish. If you haven't fished this tournament before, it is always fun and the Hawg Hunters do a great job!!! I know it is still a ways out, but mark it on the calender. It will be worth it. Last year, Ron Hobbs Jr. and Jonas Pettit won with 10.02 pounds. Great job guys and hope to see you there this year defending your title!

The Beginning

Guess this site allows us each to have a blog so we can share info and news with others...so I might as well get started. This week marks the beginning of the 2009 tournament season, with the Freeze Your Bass Blast on Sammamish this Saturday. Largemouth Top Ten List

Is there a list in existence that gives the Top 10 or even 5 biggest bass caught in Washington?

Most states have someone who compiles and verifies this information with an updated list. I haven't heard or seen of one for this state.

Why do we bass fish?????

I thought about this recently while I was in between bites on Lake Washington on a cold January day recently. Why do I come out here and sit for hours for so few bites and fewer yet rewards of a fish in the boat. Why indeed.

Superbowl Sunday Steelhead

Fished the "Pilly" w/fishing partner Don Hayes on Sunday 2/1/09. We "did the walk" & waded down the river for about 3.5-4 hours of fishing. Some holes have changed due to the January flooding, but some new ones have also been created. Fished float & jig w/the water a bit high & somewhat dirty.
