We have been recently flooded with bots creating blog posts containing ads for adult pharmaceuticals. This is not only intrusive to our users, but search engines will also pick up on this and label our site as 'adult' if this activity continues.
We have had this same problem before and battled it quietly and successfully. The creators of these bots must have realized that we moderate the site and seem to have moved on until the next wave came.
This is a minimal threat at the most. More of a nuisance, really. It is easily dealt with by approving blog posts before they are allowed to appear on the site.
The reason for this announcement is simply to let you know why your blog posts are now requiring approval. This is only temporary, so please do not take it personally. If you are reading this message, you are obviously human and this security measure was not implemented because of you. Unfortunately, you are just a victim of other people's actions. Whether we allow the spam, or inconvenience our members to prevent it, we all have to pay the price so some asshole can make ten cents a click on penis-pill ads.
As always, you may post whatever you like in the forums and comment on blogs once they are approved. Thanks everyone, and I will turn this back off in a few days when things have blown over.
