I tell my wife that I am addicted to tournament fishing. She asks, "why I'm not addictedd to her?" I tell her it is different. She doesn't seem to understand. I think it is fine to be addicted to Bass fishing and tournaments. What about you? Is it the competition, love of the sport you tell me.

My wife is cool too. She knows my stance. She knows I'm very independent. It's about balancing the give and take.
WHAT????
Remember, society and culture evolves faster than our physical and mental self.
We are still struggling with a mind set of 30,000 years ago, or if we are fast evolvers - maybe 25,000 years ago. If you did not have this drive then this very women who is asking you these questions would not eat.
One club near pasco is the Tri-cities Bass club, which my grandfather was in for years and is a good bass club.
Andrey,
Are you a member of a club or considered joining one? That is how most of us got our start.
There are clubs that have non- boater memberships and that gives you an opportunity to fish
in club events. All club anglers look to help new guys out and I am sure if you could find a club close by, someone would be willing to give you a ride. That not only will get you a chance to fish in a competitive atmosphere but will help keep your costs down. Check it out. Is there any club member in the Pasco area that could give Andrey a heads up as to who to make contact with.
it would nice to fish without having the tournament placing determine whether your family eats or not. i would like to bust my rear this winter and summer to save enough money and enter a tourney next year as a backseater. it sounds fun to me, especially if a paycheck wont be at the back of my mind.
To Curtis,
Hey man I understood your position and was just busting yours and Phils chops. Wives can make or break us when it comes to addictions.
To Andrey,
The best option there is like some guys have said, get her involved. That's what I did at first. Mine decided she didn't really like getting out to fish but loved the boat rides. She even asked to go at times. Eventually she went along while I fished and she just laid on the back deck and read a book. Some of the best catches were made while she was with me. So, from that point on she could see my passion and let me do my thing.
i cant get my wife to let me learn bass fishing, let alone do a tournament. how did you guys pursuade your wifes to let you fish enough to become good, buy a boat, and quit your day jobs to pursue your dream? thats what i want to know, i have a small framing company, three boys and tons of bills so i imagine you fellas took alot of risk or you still have some sort of jobs to support you habit??
For all of you that think I was talking crap about my wife I am not. My wife is the biggest supporter of my life long dream of tournament fishing. She just wants a little more time spent with her. The idea of taking her with me is a good idea. I'll see what she says maybe she will want to go.
For me, I love fishing, specifically bass fishing, but the competition is what makes fish tournaments. Once I was done playing soccer in college, tournament fishing really filled that gap I missed from not playing anymore. This is what makes me travel every weekend of the summer prefishing for the next event, trying to find an edge to put me above the rest of the field.
Not to mention being able to fish against THE BEST anglers in the state and some of the best on the west coast at every NWB tournament and the satisfaction you get when things come together, and you acutally beat a few of these guys, it's a hell of a feeling!
