Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

The Evergreen Bass Club is seeking your input for next years tournament. Even if your not a tournament angler, we want to hear from you! It will most likely be held on Lake Sammamish in February. The guaranteed big fish pot will be back! We've thrown around the idea of making the big fish option, an individual option. Our numbers, were down a little last year, and we want this thing to grow! All the proceeds from this tournament go directly to our Soldier Fishing Event. That's correct, the proceeds benefit the men and women who serve your country, not our club! What will it take to get you to come out for this thing? What has drawn you to this event before? What don't you like about this event? Is there a way we can run things smoother? Was the free food, and drinks to your standards? Raffle thoughts? Better ways we can recognize our sponsors? How many of you would purchase a gourmet coffee that would support our cause if we had a coffee truck there selling lattes, mochas, and other specialty items? How many of you who don't have a boat/partner would be inclined to fish if we could set you up with someone?

How many of you remember the Big Bass Blast Event's that used to be held on Lake Washington? What were your thoughts on that?

There are many open tournaments out there to chose from, but rarely do they directly benefit outstanding causes like this! Please consider fishing this event next year. We promise to do our best in meeting your standards!

Chad,

I would maybe consider detracting attention from the fact that this is a fishing event. Obviously it is a bass tournament and there are various ways to format an event and everyone is going to have an opinion on that blah blah blah......

Here is something that no one on this site should have a varying opinion about; wounded warriors! Let's hear a story from a veteran that has participated in an event that was funded by the proceeds generated by the "Freeze your Bass Blast". Let's see some pictures of these guys at the event that these proceeds go to fund. Get a video clip or a testimonial...something that makes us reconsider why we would come out to this. Hell, maybe rename the event it's self so it doesn't become just another bass tournament with floundering support.

I would like to see something that makes people want to support the event PURELY for the cause. You can come up with all the gimmicks or formats you want but that only puts more focus on the mechanics of the event and detracts from the goal of the event and that is supporting our freedom fighters!

I HATE golf. So much so that I don't really even like golfer's themselves. Despite that I recently played in a golf tournament simply because the cause was so worthy. I think if you could figure out a way to get the focus back to the benefactors of the event and less on the stupid fish you guys could make some serious headway.

I knew I liked you for a reason! Great ideas, and much appreciated!

Maybe we could get a few of those vets to show up at the event? Maybe they should be the guys selling the raffle tickets?

I will be completely honest here so no one misunderstands. I have participated in this event in the past for the wrong reasons. I have not purchased raffle tickets but a few times. I love fishing tournaments but most of the East side lake are frozen in February. My motivation has always been the tournament and getting a chance to see a bunch of guys that I rarely get to be around. Guys like Willie and Chad. People have legitimate reason for not showing up to various events which I understand and don't want to chastise. If you legitimately can't make it for any reason that is fine and the next part is not for you.

However, the guy that doesn't like the format or the weather or the venue or any other host of lame ass reasons should really consider a few things when making the decision to participate or not.

I'm pretty sure these wounded warriors had no say in the venue where they became wounded. They didn't get to "skip this one" due to crappy weather. They didn't make the decision to fight that day because their practice time gave them the confidence to believe they could win. They just F'ing sucked it up and did it. As a result of those actions they sustained life altering injuries. I'm pretty certain that none of us will sustain a life altering injury based on the weather or format of a stupid bass tournament but we might have the chance to make a lasting impact, with very little sacrifice, in the life of an individual who sacrificed everything for us.

Well said josh. Hard to argue.

AMEN BROTHER!

Dune coon....Awesome...I thought sand digger was funny Lol

While I respect people's passion, and love for his country, I have an equally deep appreciation for being critical of the issues without the need for terminology that could easily go without.

In short....   No.   It's not awsome.

None here either!!

I have never fished the Freeze Your Bass Blast. Yet I have had my boat on JBLM the past three or more years to take soldiers fishing at the events held by Evergreen Bass Club. This year I also supported the event on Lake Washington held by another organization. As a veteran for me it feels good to give back to those serving today. I have even developed a good friendship with the active duty couple I took out several years ago and have taken them out fishing more times. This next year if my schedule and money manager allow me to I may fish the tournament. Bottom line, I will be at the Take a Soldier Fishing event. When it comes to supporting our active duty members we all need to give the max support we can.

I'm with you Rodney; both events are great and mutually supporting. Hopefully I can do both this year!

It's with a sad heart that I must pass along the news that we as a club have decided not to proceed with this tournament next year. It was decided upon last night that we as a club are going to direct all of our focus towards the Soldier Fishing Event. The Soldier Fishing Event is what drives our club! In the past, the profits from the Freeze Your Bass Blast have fueled the Soldier Fishing Event. Profits have been marginally slim the past few years, and with a down-sizing club, we needed to redirect our priorities. I would like to thank each and every one of you who made the Freeze Your Bass Blast a success for the past seven years. Our decision not to proceed with this tournament in 2014, doesn't mean it wont be back. When it does return, it will be bigger, and better than ever!

We don't have a set date for our Soldier Fishing Event, but most likely it will once again be in July on American Lake. If you would like to help sponsor this event, please contact me. We're seeking monetary, service, and product donations. If you would like to donate a product or service, it needs to be family appropriate. The earlier we receive sponsorship, the better. That way we can maximize your exposure through our media outlets, banners, t-shirts, exc.......

As soon as we've nailed the logistics for this event I will pass them along for those of you interested in becoming boaters.

Once again, we're extremely sorry for the inconvenience.

Hello Chad,

Our company would like to sponsor the Soldier Fishing Event in the form of a product donation and service (if I am in the State).  Please send or post the applicable details/form when they become available.

Thank you!
