If you only could choose two swimbaits to have in your tackle box for Washington lakes, what would they be including size and color?

TDot tipped me off about the Deps 250 Slide Swimmer, so I now have two.  Be glad to rent these out but only with a sizeable deposit...I do plan to demo this bait during my Big Bass seminar at the Puyallup Sportsman Show this year as long as there is water left in the tank after casting it in.

Tw swimmer for smallies as well as a huddleston. Both get bit. Cant wait to have some new additions come spring though.

Re:Triple Trout color

Pick a trout, any trout.

Renting out expensive big baits with a sizeable deposit is a great idea!

Which day will you be doing the Big Bass seminar?  If I do not have any travel conflicts I will be working the Lamiglas booth on the weekend and would love to come check it out if it's on Saturday or Sunday.

Sup Jeff :)

The custom color is rainbow trout . I purchased it on line from a private owner down in cali about 3 years ago.

Dez,

By custom color do you mean you paint them yourself? I'm looking on line an not sure which color to get.

KGM TW Swimmer kokanee color  (smallies) & The 6" Triple Trout custom color SB (Largies)

Not completely sure what days each class will be yet, but I will let you know (Big Bass seminar likely Friday evening).

By Dean they mean me, inside joke haha.

There is a few Kongs on bbcboards.net right now. They really are good baits, just dont leave them in direct sunlight even if they are in a box, they can expand and get ruined if you arent careful.

Triple Trouts, Kongs, BBZs potentially, I have several of Brocks baits and they are absolutely money, 316s but they really are spendy as hell, certain Rago's, MS Slammers, Lunker Punkers (the wood ones) to name a few.

There is one thing you HAVE to understand, cheap baits are cheap baits for a reason, do your homework on specific baits and do not, and I shall repeat, DO NOT BUY CHEAP BAITS!!!!!!! That goes for gear also. You will hate yourself if you get cheap reels, rods, hooks, and especially line.

Did I say dont buy cheap baits and gear? Ya dont do that, anyone on here who has tossed swimbaits will agree with me.

Lastly, you really really should be prepared to see beast bassies come out and follow your baits all the way to the boat, so be prepared for dissapointment haha. Seriously, and Tdot can attest to this, we have had days where we would get 25 follows and not a single bite. With that, you should always have a follow up bait rigged and ready to toss at these followers, not many will bite, but some will. You can also use these followings as a tool, dont toss your swimmer at them over and over that wont do any good, take note of where they are and come back at least 30min later. Give them time to settle down and toss a similar or the same swimmer at them, but maybe change up the retrieve. Swimbaits are an effective tool to locate big bass. We had a Mattlures that we called The Locator, it wouldnt get bit much but good god did it call them from the depths.

Even after everyone has said thier piece, 95% of your success will come from experience.

Oh ya if you look for Kongs, be aware they are also labeled as Bossymark.

Be prepared to spend some $$$.  That's all I'll say lol.

Funny question I think...do you really need them? And to which genre of swim baits are you talking? Big baits? Some many variables..... There are 2 soft body that stand out in my mind for smallmouth, hard to beat a rocks top shelf or swim babe's tiny e in water shallower than 8 feet, water deeper than that I prefer a Sniper Lure Swim bait which is just like the TW swimmer in size and shape. I like the revenge Swim bait heads. For hard swim baits for smallmouth I have done really well on either light trout or white 6" triple trout.

It's just that I've never thrown one before and thought I would try it out this year. Just hearing some of the stories, I think it would be nice to catch some giant largemouth. For me, the big largemouth are the hardest fish to trick into biting. By the way, I expected you to write a haiku. What's up with that?

I'm very surprised nobody is talking about the Panic Minnow 5" Bama Swimbait. I prefer these over the KGM, Big Hammer, AA's, and other swimbait tails because they're more versatile. You can rig them weedless right out of the package with a screw lock hook, or shave the nose off, and rig them on a revenge jighead. Unless I'm missing something, it's not practical to rig a swimbait tail weedless, unless you use a jighead with a weed guard. Good luck on your hook up ratio, with that setup, or finding a legit jighead.
Another good inexpensive soft body swimbait brand is Mattlures.
The reaction innovation skinny dippers are a good bait to fish through vegetation.
