Smallmouth being sold thanks to WDFW....More press against our wonderful conservation-oriented wildlife department

Hmm, Maybe I've missed something but I thought only licensed commercial fishermen could sell gamefish in the State of WA.,  and while not a real bass fisherman, I totally disagree with the WDFW and the Marine Fisheries on this, where will this lead to next?!  I have practiced only taking what I will clean and eat, and the rest is "fun to catch then release, (with barbless hooks)".

Jon,

Good points.  I don't think WDFW officially allows the selling of smallmouth.  They just allow any meat head to keep as many as he wants, anytime, everyday, with no size limits.  They have opened up Pandora's box.  There are some people who think this won't affect the bass population. But, I guarantee it will.  It may take a year, two, or three, but we will see and experience the affects of poor wildlife management.  There's a reason many species almost go extinct in certain areas, and in almost all cases it's over-harvesting....On that note, I do not believe humans can eradicate smallmouth.  But the fishery will surely change because of this rule.

Continually reading this stuff just makes me cringe...the indiscriminate harvesting as well as the throwing darts technique to try and save a salmon

Wouldn't it make way more sense to remove restrictions on killing Sea Lions on the rivers??  Just think about how many more smolts there would be then.  Oh, wait, Sea Lions are so much cuter than bass.

I feel that the #1 problem in the state of Washington is 100% the Indians. I truly feel like there ancestors would be absolutely ashamed and discussed with them. I sure know I am. They are creating a hatred towards them self!!!!!!!!

Nice to see that some of you are starting to figure this out. Maybe it's time for round two!

Dana let me know when your ready God knows I am. If only we could all stop funding them through there casinos. Then the fish, deer, and elk might stand a chance.

Rodney,

The book of "RULES" no longer applies. Might be time to add a little angry to your approach.

I was talking to Marcantonio the other day...He mentioned hiring an attorney and suing the WDFW.  That's what really will make them take action.  If we could find a way to sue....Does anyone know an attorney who would do pro-bono work for this (or know an attorney), or perhaps be willing to help fund a GoFundMe account?
