Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Hey, guys. I'm trying to figure out what went wrong this weekend on Silver. I was without my trolling motor and was unable to fish shoreline without getting blown into the shore. I ended up anchoring in the inlets and fishing them, I saw a couple rise but nothing hit my bait... I figured the bass would be headed to the shallow inlets but clearly, that was wrong. I was using a white chartreuse spinnerbait, a square bill crankbait, and I threw my green yellow booyah frog. I didn't even get a nibble! Is it too early for them to be shallow still or am I missing something else obvious? Thanks for any help, I am going to go back out next Saturday and I am hoping to have better luck, and a trolling motor.

I dont know anything about this lake. Maybe some spokane guys will chime in. Smallmouth can be found shallow or deep this time of year. Alot of lakes, the smallmouth are in 2-10ft, but some lakes they can be in 20-30 sitting on rock piles. You kinda have to put your time in on each lake to figure it out. I have no clue what the largemouth would be doing at silver, but probably relating to weedlines or shoreline cover in 15 feet of water or less. You say you threw a spinnerbait and a frog... both good choices, but there are days were neither of those baits will do well. Just keep your head down and fish until things come together.

Hi Shane,

Silver is an excellent lake for largemouth and tiger muskie. It sounds like you were at a disadvantage with no trolling motor for sure because all of the baits you mention are great there.

I do not know which inlet you are referring to, but the shallow end on the south is usually the best area for bass with all of the grass there.

The north end by the public ramp can also be good along the rocks by the road and then here where the water comes up to 16 feet in the lower middle of the screem. There are tons of underwater points, humps and rockpiles on this lake that are great for deep cranking.

Good luck!
