Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

The permit is in and the first annual wafish tournament is set. All are welcome to fish whether they get in the pots or not! See attached for the flyer. Also, attached is a form for donations if anyone is interested in getting items for the raffle. Chad Simon has offered to help with the raffle stuff.

I hope to see you all there!

What is the fee for the tourney? I only see the fees for the 2 option pots.

Nice! Lookin forward to it!
so I read this as no bass with-in the slot can be weighed in, that means all smallmouth will be over 14", and over 17" for largemouth.

quote;

The minimum size for each fish is twelve inches, mouth closed, tail fanned, on a flat board. In the
event that the minimum size limit differs from the state law the state law (including slot limits)
shall govern.
Tom,

Normal tournament rules apply. Up to 5 bass may be weighed with a minimum size of 12". No entry fee is required to come enter the tournament.

Ok, so the slot limit doesn't apply since no fish are going to be taken home, correct? Thanks.
I would love to come and get my butt kicked out there, but I think I have a family Christmas party to attend. If that changes, then I will be there for sure!
Tom, the State does allow tournament anglers to retain fish during a contest within the slot limit, with some exceptions. As long as it is a permitted contest under state law and you are displaying a contest banner on your boat. This permit also allows us to continue fishing when we have five bass already in the boat, which is the daily catch limit.
You will get a package from me soon with some raffle prizes. 10" Pstix (stik baits) will be the contents.

I realise all that, but with the confusing paragraph that mentions the slot, and the lack of mention that the tourney was free, and the only cost was the option pots, I thought the whole thing needed to be clarified. How is a person to know that the slot limit doesn't apply to Lake Washington in this or any other tourney? It isn't mentioned in the regs. so EVERYONE would have to call the tourney directer, or the Dpt of game and ask. It is MUCH simpler to have it done here in this thread, and reworded on the flyer. I'd have to rethink how I would have worded the flyer as I thought about it last night, would have left no questains at all. But as long as the points are noted and explained all will be good.

Also, are those that aren't in the option pots going to weigh in fish? If not, are they acually concidered to be in a tourney? Are there going to be handed out boat/contestant numbers? If so who gets numbers? Everyone, or just the option pot boats? If only the option pot boats, then are the non-option pot boats REALLY in the tourney. Just some questains that came to mind yesterday. Maybe I was thinking too hard on some thoughts, like the numbers, but other thoughts really did need to be answered.

Tom,
You are making this WAY to hard. Show up, fish, have a good time, release caught fish after weighing them. Take home cash and prizes if you do well. If your not in the options, take home trophy for bragging rights. Thank Jordan for putting together a great tourney.

I think that is a good choice for a date Jordan! If anyone want's to donate items you can do one of three things: mail them to me, if you live or can meet me between Mill Creek and Spanaway I can pick items up, or tell me exactly what your donating ahead of time and bring those items to the tournament. Please try to contact me at least a week before the tournament. I know I'm anal, but I wan't to fish the tournament also, and I don't wan't to be overwhelmed on t-day. I've sent out over 50 letters requesting donations to some of the best companies! If anyone feels like they have good leeds with any company, by all means feel free to drop them a donation letter, and have them contact me.
