Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I had a conversation today with the WDFW biologist that covers Lake Tapps after hearing a rumor that they would not be planting the lake this spring for the 2nd year in a row. Unfortunately that looks like the rumors are true. The WDFW feels at this time that the forage base is low and would not handle an increase in the Musky population. I will continue to push for the plants this spring but at this time it doesn't look like it's going to happen. The WDFW remains committed to Lake Tapps as a Musky fishery in the state.

Is the WFDW wrong about the forage base?

After spending a lot of time on the lake last season I think the forage base is as good as it's ever been. WDFW also planted the lake last year with 8000 trout. I saw quantities of Bluegill, Crappie, Perch as well as suckers and Carp. The Bass seem to be doing well in the lake also.
