Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I didn't know exactly where to post this topic, but I figured here is as good as any...

Last Saturday a few buddies and I headed out to Lake Terrell for some late afternoon bassin'. There were 2 men and a woman fishing from the end of the launch dock. They seemed very annoyed that we were there launching boats while they were fishing. There were 5 boats being dumped in the water from us.Most of us after launching, just either beached up against the grass or puttered out away from the launch using our trolling motors. The second to last boat that launched (Lorne is his name) parked his boat right along side the dock and warmed up his older 1991 Yamaha while he parked his Jeep and boat trailer. As everyone started meandering throughout the lake to their spots, Lorne reversed out of the launch spun his boat around and almost got tangled in the dock fishermen's lines that they refused to remove from the water. They started screaming at him to leave the launch and they were going to "Make him leave". When we all returned a few hours later, The 3 dock fishermen were gone.... but all of Lorne's tires on his Jeep were slashed along with the ones on his boat trailer. One of the tires was stabbed 12 times!

I personally have had about 5 instances where issues have arison from dock anglers not removing their lines when boats are coming or going. This is seeming to get more heated every year. There is a big sign that specifically states that "This dock was paid for by fuel surcharges, all lines must be brought in when boats are coming into or leaving the launch" . Now that there is that large new fishing dock they built specifically for shore fishermen just west of the launch dock, is there any way to get the launch dock for boats using the launch only? 2 times last year I had to remove 20-30lbs test mono lines from my outboard prop from people refusing to remove their lines when I came into the launch. If this dock was paid for by fuel surcharges, then it should be for the boaters' use only, and not the shore fishermen. They have their own dock that is brand new.

Anyone else had this issue? What are your opinions or ideas to remedy this situation from occuring again?

Next time snap a photo of them once your about 15 feet off the dock, especially if there flipping you guys s**t. They will think twice before doing anything dumb when you have all there face's on camera. Tough situation because we all know you cant fix stupid, so trying to reason with stupid is just as hard. Hope your buddy had insurance that's a lot of money in tires!

Ironically we have a picture of them but its too blurry to identify anyone in it. They just appear in the background. I just wish their car parked in the background had the license plate visible in the pic. His truck had 35's on it I believe.... so right around $1500 or more  for tires or so I think.

I bet they will be back... Mountain justice.
The ranger lives right there in the house above the ramp. You should have reported it to him as soon as it was discover. Honestly if you have difficulties launching there again I would point out the sign, park your boat and say that you will turn them into the ranger right then. He lives right there. I imagine they will pick up and move to the other dock or tell u to stick it. If they do the later go and knock on there door at his place. He's got some dogs that start to bark when you go to the gate but the are harmless. Just state who your are and your situation. I imagine this is not the first time he has been approached about this related issue.
