Trolling Motor Purchase (24 or 36 volt system?)

A buddy is in need of a new trolling motor and needs some advice. He is running a 2000 Ranger 19.5 foot boat with a 200hp Yamaha and is concerned with slowing the boat down with added battery weight (He should have bought a Triton).

Choices: 1st choice is to go with an 80lb thrust 24 volt trolling motor (which we believe to be the strongest 24 volt system available) or 2nd choice, a 101lb thrust 36 volt trolling motor.

Which way would you go?

Hi Ryan...
Glad to hear the Triton's running good. Man, that was sure a fun boat to own.
Well...I couldn't stay away from Bass fishing. I thought that was it for me but no way. I bought another boat. I traveled to Lake Shasta and met a guy from Reno and purchased a Nitro 884 Savage. It's in great shape and well worth the drive for it. A bit smaller, and not as big a motor, but no boat payment.
Keith and I plan on fishing a few NW Bass tourneys this year, so I hope to see ya out there. Take care, Theron

Yea it has been good this fall. The pix I used on this site is a fall Sm 6.5 lbs from there. Bob got her sister there was not an oz different. I think the fish drift down lake when the water starts cooling off. Best fish I have ever caught of there have been in Oct and Nov.

We have blk. labs. That is all we have ever had as far as field trial dogs. I know tons of people in the dog world. So if you wanted a started dog or a pup there is always one to be had. Let me know if you are in the market and I will help you out. Go to www. working-retrievers.com and look at their classifieds for puppies or started dogs. A friend of mine has a web sight for their stud dogs and it gives info on breedings they have done coming up so look there as well. suprdogs.com

We have been training field trial dogs since 94. I have slowed down with that a bit, having kids and all keeps me to busy to train as much as I used to. I am still vice pres. of the tacoma retriever club though. And hunt water fowl every moment possible in the winter. I have only fished sammamish once and I fished lake wa just this last weekend for the first time. I always procrastinate going out there because its so big. I favor the potholes and smaller lakes around my house. But lake wa. is only 20 min. north of me so we went. We got lots of advice from people we know and slammed the smallies pretty good. Glad to pass on anything you need to know. I will be going back sooner than later! It gets a litttle rough in spots but our boat handles it really well.
