Charlie,

You can install your LSS-1 unit with the transducer either on your trolling motor or on your transom.  If you want a transducer at both locations then you need to purchase a second complete StructureScan unit (black box and transducer), and then you wire them together by ethernet (in series) and then you can view either transducer from any of your HDS units on your boat.  You can switch between the bow transducer or the transom transducer.  This is the arrangement I will have shortly.

Charlie, the DownScan works great at the front of the boat for vertical fishing.  You have to learn how to use the information properly as your display will not look the same when your boat is not moving; but the information you want will still be ther and is useful.  First of all, in most cases your boat continues to move and therefor you get a good picture.  Just recognize that whenever you turn the transducer you will blur the image.  I have tried my StructureScan on the bow, and will soon be adding a second StructureScan unit permanently on my trolling motor.

ciao,
Marc
