Lake Tapps south boat launch PARKING LOT has moved

The boat launch PARKING LOT has been moved to around the end of the lake.  The old parking around the corner is now parking for the Ballfield.  I personally have not seen it, but if your standing at the launch, and look past the end of the lake, you'll see a metal roof...that's where it is.  That's like over 100 yard walk I believe.  BRILLIANT MOVE!!!!!!

Senator Pam Roach at Lk Tapps 10/22/13

I was at Tapps fishing yesterday (10/23).  When we went in for the day, we noticed that there was a big "ta-do" at the boat launch park.  We ran into Senator Pam Roach, as well as Danny from Fish and Wildlife (and two others).  She told us that they were doing a study based on information gathered at the town meeting last month.  Apparently, she went out with WDFW people the night before and Electro-shocked up some fish, and also setup gill nets.  That morning, they were showing the results…

Randy got his wings

Randy lost his battle with brain cancer this morning. He has been asleep for 26 hours. I noticed a tear under his left eye and then he took his last breath. There's no more suffering and pain. He mentioned a couple of weeks ago that he wished he could smile again (the tumor took away that ability.)

We are looking to have his memorial service in about 10 days, but I will post here and on Randy's community facebook page when it will be. …

Tiger Musky Minimum size limit for WA State

Just a reminder for all those fisherman new to tiger musky fishing - the minimum size limit is 50 inches.  All others are strictly catch and release.  Please see Cascade Musky Association at www.cascademusky.com or look at the WA State fishing regulations.  Please spread the word.  The fish are very fragile, they take a lot of money to raise and stock, and they are sterile and don't reproduce naturally.

Tweeker's at Tanawax

Well went to Tanawax lake two Friday's ago to test out my new prop and on my way home noticed my tank a 1/4 tank lower than when I left.  I did notice a blond woman alone at the bank who couldn't cast to save her life and as I beached my boat she packed up and met a guy in the middle of the parking lot got in a small older suv and I got my boat out of the water and I didn't really think anything of it at the time until the following Friday when I went to fill up my tank all the gas came…

Fishing Partner Needed

I'm a lucky old retired guy with the finances to travel to exotic places to fish. The trouble is, most resorts and outfitters require two clients per boat -- or a lone fisherman pays a hefty extra fee. My local fishing buddies either lack the interest or finances to accompany me -- and my wife is running out of energy.

If you have the resources and desire to fish some of the best places in the world, give me a call. I've caught tigerfish in Africa, peacock bass in Brazil, several…

upgrading electronics on the boat

Going to upgrade the electronics (sonar/gps) on the boat. Thinking about the Humminbird® 788ci HD DI Sonar/GPS/Chartplotter Combo on the bow, transducer on the trolling motor, and Lowrance® HDS-7 Gen2 Fishfinder/GPS Chartplotter w/Lake Insight® and StructureScan® LSS-2 Sonar Imaging Bundle at the console/helm. Any input or advice on these devices would be great.

EWU Sportsman's Club Fundraiser

Hi Everyone!

Since I came to college here at EWU over in Cheney, WA my fellow classmates and I have been working on building the only collegiate fishing & hunting club in the Pacific Northwest. We started out as a group of a few guys with a dream, and now our club has grown to upwards of 60 members. We will be sending 12 to 15 students total to the FLW & B.A.S.S. College Fishing Series, and many of them its their first time ever tournament fishing. Recently at Lake…

'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE A BASS TOURNAMENT By Jeff Fancher

With minor modifications, here is an entry I wrote for Capital City Bass Club about 12 years ago. I thought I would re-post this in the spirit of the up-coming fishing season:

'Twas the night before a bass tournament,

When all through the house,

Not an angler was sleeping, not even his spouse.

The rods were all placed in the Skeeter with care,

In hopes that the fishing would be better than fair.

While tossing and turning all night in my…

Proposed 2013 Lake Sammamish Rule Change - Single point Barbless Hooks Only

The state is proposing only allowing single point barbless hooks on Lake Sammamish from January 1 through April 30th in order to increase the survival of incidentally caught kokanee.  The use of all baits with treble hooks would not be allowed.  All hooks would have to have the barbs removed.  I don't believe the state has any data on incidental catch of kokanee by bass fishermen during this period.  The right approach would be to gather data on incidental kokanee catch by bass fishermen…

Proposed 2013 - 2014 Fishing Regulation Proposes Change affecting Bass

The state has a proposed regulation change for 2013 and 2014 that will remove limits on bass ( only 3 over 15 inches) on the Snake River and the Columbia  between the McNary Dam and the Chief Joseph Dam.  Not only will this allow these areas to be fished out but the next step will be the entire Columbia and then finally inland lakes.  The entire text of this proposal and the opportunity to voice your comments can be found at: …
