Blog Posts Spam

We have been recently flooded with bots creating blog posts containing ads for adult pharmaceuticals. This is not only intrusive to our users, but search engines will also pick up on this and label our site as 'adult' if this activity continues.

We have had this same problem before and battled it quietly and successfully. The creators of these bots must have realized that we moderate the site and seem to have moved on until the next wave came.

This is a minimal threat at…

3. What would you like to see added in 2010?

This site has been up for a year now and I want to make sure it continues to get better and grow.

Tying Rabbit Fur Jigs

Its wintertime and that means it's jig time, but not for just steelhead, these work well for bass too! I've fished steelhead and salmon with floats and jigs for as long as I can remember and have been tying my own jigs for almost as long. The following is a tutorial of how to tie one of the easiest most effective jigs for steelhead, salmon, trout, and even bass... the rabbit fur jig.

Start by securing your jighead in your vice as even as possible and wrap your thread back until its… Continue

Reminder to Support Site Sponsors

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to remind everyone to support our site sponsors since they help make the site live. Panic Minnow makes a great product and have chosen to support this site. Click here to buy them now or visit Auburn Sports or Three Rivers to see them in person.

I also want to make sure and recognize those who have donated to the site multiple times. People who have… Continue

Randy (My Old Man) and I will be heading over the bridge to sports radio 950kjr this saturday to spend the morning with Joel Shangle and crew. Here's the rundown from the man himself (Joel Shangle):

Board Wars...? Not here...

Hi Everyone,

For future reference, before there are any events posted on WAFISH, they need to be approved by me beforehand. Thus far for events on posted on here guys have asked me beforehand, including the Freeze Your Bass, The Sammamish Open and even the most recent seminar at Auburn Sports and Marine for the Mike Wolsky seminar. Receiving too many Emails from WaFish?

Hi Everyone,

It's been brought to my attention that a few of you don't like receiving all the emails from WaFish. Here's how to choose what you want to be notified on via email:

To change the email settings you go to the "My Page" tab on the top, select "Settings" on the top right, and choose "Email" on the left. There you can choose what you want to be notified on via email, or you can choose to receive no emails at the bottom.

Sorry for any… Continue

Spring Preparation

Hi Everyone,

With the spring fishing time upon us, now is the time to make sure that your gear is dialed in for those big tournaments and big fish fun trips here are a few things I do to make sure my gear is good to go:

-Take a Q-tip to all of my rods guides. I rub the Q-tip around the inside of the ceramic pieces, and rod tips in the case of the GLX rods. If any piece of the q-tip sticks to the inside of the ceramic piece you should double check it for cracks or grooves… Continue

New Group: Walleye Fishing

Hi Everyone,

I've had a couple requests for a Walleye group and I listen to the people so there it is. I do however need a killer pic of a big fat Walleye. Anyone have one that I can use to throw up there? I'll pick the best and put it up. Heck, I'll even have a prize to be determined later for whoever gives me the best one by this Friday at 6:00pm.

Game on!!!

WOW! Thanks Everyone!

Hi guys and gals,

I wanted to thank everyone here for becoming a part of WAFISH.com. I started this site mid november and launched it towards the end of November as a resource for all of us fishermen in Washington. As membership grew at a pace of about 2 new members a day I made a goal of 150 members by April, which I thought was really shooting for the stars. Well, guess what? Not only did we meet that goal, but we did it a month ahead!

I am excited for the fishing to kick up… Continue

Sweat the Small Stuff

So as I was prepping for fishing the other day, tying my jigheads on, threading my soft palstics on the hook, loading my boat with scents and hook sharpeners, I thought to myslelf, "How important is it that I do all of this?" I got to thinking about this today at work, while looking at Lake Washington and not doing what I was supposed to. It's these small things that make the difference, especially this time of year. From using quality rods, reels, line and hooks to making sure your bait is… Continue
