I don't really know if this qualifies as a blog post, but here goes: I've been semi-laid up for the past two weeks, due to a broken trolling motor switch, and some cortisone injections in my back, which is supposed to help reduce the effects of spinal arthritis and stenosis. I replaced the switch, and my back pain has subsided.
I put together a couple of spinner baits during my down time. I got the components from eBay and Cabelas. I haven't tried them yet, but they look good, and to me, that's a part of the fun of fishing!
I plan to get out on the water this week-end to see if (1)my trolling motor is indeed well; (2) my back is indeed better; (3) if the fish find my lures appealing. I didn't realize how much I missed being on the water until this combination of mishaps took place. I remember once watching a Hank Parker program where he asked: "what do people who don't fish do?" Personally, I don't understand how people can't get excited about spending a day on the water, trying to entice a fish into hitting a bait.
I'm enclosing some pictures of my baits. Maybe I'll see some of you out on the water tomorrow. With the combination of being relatively pain free, being on the water, throwing some baits I made myself, I am indeed blessed.
