silver lake is in cowlitz county out of castle rock. its full of carp!! please take them out of there, they have wiped out most of the grasses that the bass love.

thanks for responding, yes this is a very shallow lake but it just looks so good everywhere. ill try more cranks this next time and pay more attention to depth changes. i feel like i dont have alot of great options for abundant largemouth around Vancouver. Lakamas lake fish are also quite finicky. or mabey its just me! ill keep chuck'n and wind'n.

Hookset, this is a tough lake to crack the secret on. I struggled early trying to learn this lake and still can have my butt handed to me on this lake, as we all can. This lake is so shallow that the subtlest depth change is all that is needed to hold fish. You can go down a set of docks or brush for hundreds of yards and not get a single bite and then the bottom goes from 2.5 ft to 3.1 ft and boom, your getting bites.
The biggest thing I have learned here is the fall rate of your soft plastics / jigs while flipping to heavy cover. These fish are really particular to fall rate in this lake. If you aren't getting bites with 1/2 oz jig, trying going alot lighter or heavier to change the fall rate. If your not getting bites on the edges of cover, move to the thickest, nastiest stuff you can find and throw right into the middle of it.
With fall here the bass will be feeding up for the winter. They will actively chase crankbaits right now. Throw big, shallow running square bill cranks around the heaviest cover you can find. If the wind is blowing fish the docks, brush, rocks the the wind is hitting the heaviest.
Hope this will help.

Mark
