First time on the lake with finished project boat was at Lake at LK Terrell

I didn’t realize how small it was until I saw a photo with me in it. A big fat guy in a little boat. Oh well it was fun now I need to work out a few bugs. Need to move the front seat back behind the live well. Bow was way too low and very tipsy as one could imagine that far forward. Cabel’s live well worked great. (But not sure how to drain it) Trolling motor performed well, and of course, the Interstate Battery had all the power I needed.

Now I need to know how to catch Bass. Had one strike, but no fish.

Free offer to anyone who know how to fish Lake Terrell !!!

I will give a new Interstate battery to the first 2 people that take me out and teach me a few tips. I want to learn how to catch fish on that lake. It is close to my home and easy access.

Hope someone finds this blog. Love the sight, it should be fun and informative.

Freekin' Ducks! Is it the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife? Terrell in my opinion is one of the better Bass lakes in the state.

Mike, you should get out to terrell before April ends, I here there is plans to draw the lake down 3-4 feet so they can plant some kind of grass for some kind of ducks. Unfortunatly that leaves 4-5 feet of choked up soup at best. I dont know just what that means for the spawn or the low oxygen levels of August but it cant be good.

Hey Jim,
I was checking out the forecast and Saturday looks really windy and rainy. I can deal with the rain but the wind is a pain in the ***
Lets do a rain check for this weekend. I plan on hittin Terrell quite a bit before the milfoil chokes out the lake. I'll let you know the next time I head up there.

Jim, just a quick note regarding Lake Terrell. The entire lake is relatively shallow and it harbors a good population of largemouth. You can catch them right up against the bank in skinny water to hundreds of yards offshore in 6-8 feet of water, pretty much all season. Lake Terrell gets a tremendous amount of pressure for its size, so it is important to find unique areas/patterns and develop your own style to consistently catch quality fish out there. While several of us our willing to show you our successful methods, there is no replacement for time on the water. Work on some of the techniques/areas you learn from others but always experiment with some of your own during the course of a day. This is the best way to learn the lake, as well as improve and grow as an angler. By the way, don't get discouraged if you can't always catch them the same ways Brandon does. Either he has a sixth sense or fish just really like him a lot! It's kind of eerie at times.....

Great job once again on the boat and good luck out there. See ya in the shop!

Thanks for the thoughts. I live in Ferndale only 10 minutes from the lake. That's why I want to learn it well. I have moved the front seat behind the live well. That will help alot. I'll try that 1st before more changes. Thanks for your ideas. Jim

Jim

Nice work on the boat! Looks like you have put in alot of hard work and time into that thing. I believe there may be a few factors why your boat is tipsy. For starters, if you could send me the specs of your boat, I could help you a little further.

From the pictures I see a few things that may help your boat become a little more stable.

1 - relocation of the front battery - lower in the hull, and behind the seat
2 - lowering the center of gravity by reducing the height of your deck
3 - relocating the livewell - adding water in its current location will cause the boat to be more tippy

i have some possibly solutions for your live well as well. though it might have you use another separate battery within the boat

we fish alot of the northern lakes, and we are familiar with that lake, as well as others that will be suitable for that boat of yours.

where are you located? ...give me a shout though here or email.

Boat looks great Jim. I'll take you out but you can keep the battery. (I like cash).
