I use the Gamakatsu Super Line Worm Hook, but add a piece of heat shrink tubing below the hook eye, with the end of the tubing cut at an angle to create a big barb when heated and compressed. Paycheck Hooks by Bub Tosh come with the heat shrink tubing and is the same thing. I also use Gamakatsu GMag hooks for some baits but the straight shanks see more use in the heavy stuff for me. Be sure to anchor your weight tight to the hook with a couple of bobber stops.

i have used EWG alot but i want to try straight shank and see and i noticed you can get away with a bigger straight shank with a smaller bait as well

Don't use straight shank hooks! EWG is the way to go! Other wise super glue will work!
