Chad,
I'm still astonished that you'd piss and moan about getting $100 back at the end of a tournament that you 'blanked' in. As I previously stated, I would not have expected any type of pay out for catching NO FISH! There are two types of people in this world, those that 'get it' and those that don't....you seem to be among the latter.
Rick,
All I know is we paid $110 for entry plus $10 big fish. I remembered the entry fee being $100 on the website, I guess I just assumed the extra $10 was for late registration which I was O.K about. If I would have known the extra $10 we were charged was for the boat launch, we would have launched at the state park. That wasn't made clear to me. I don't recall being asked if we were launching at Silver Lake Resort or the state park. I've never herd of a launch fee being added into the registration fee. I feel like your padding your stats. You guys didn't pay back 46%. It's pretty strait forward you guys paid back $1,000 of $2,700. This is a 37% payback no matter which way you slice it! Big fish was supposed to be 100% payback, and none of that was paid back as well. Just like I've tried to elaborate to Aaron, I don't have an opinion yet on how this all wen't down. I just feel like the "facts" need out.
Aaron,
I simply replied to your quote to set the record strait. Your comments crack me up! Especially, "I'm embarrassed for you and the others that think like you do." Can you please clue me in on what I'm thinking, because I haven't posted my opinion as what I think about this matter, or thought about it enough to form an opinion for that matter. Can you tell me what I'll be thinking about tonight as well? Did you get a chance to read the rules? Can you tell me which rule laid out in detail that if no fish were caught, there would be no payout? I can tell you there was an 80% payback advertised! As far as your trophy coment, CCBC didn't have trophies made for this event. In reference to me not being affiliated with a club.....I am a member of a Bass Club, and I know what it takes to run an event of this caliber. Rick was extremely helpful in returning all of my emails, and phone calls in addition to what he did as TD. Now that I feel like I've gotten so far off the topic, can I proof read your take home spelling test? Sorry to be so harsh dude, but you sure do assume a lot!
In short, I haven't posted my opinion on this matter, I'm just straitening your comments out for you.
Thanks,
Chad S.

Chad,
In response to your comments:
I am not currently a member of ANY club but I do have good friends that participate with CCBC so yes I'm biased. Now that we have established that I'd like to also go on record as saying this... I'm embarrassed for you and the others that think like you do. When a group, any group, holds a tournament and nobody catches a fish, It is my opinion that the group should have kept the money, all of it, to set a precedent that the rules will be followed to the letter, no exceptions. If I'm not mistaken, that is what was printed on the entry form that YOU signed. Somehow you feel entitled to recover all of your cost for FAILING in the contest. Don't let your pride get in the way here, this has nothing to do with anyones ability to catch fish. There were some of the best Silver Lake anglers out there that weekend and the fish won. But to hear you bitch and complain about only getting back $100 of your $120 is, well.... embarrassing. This is not youth soccer where everyone gets a trophy for just showing up. CCBC did a very generous thing by refunding a large portion of the fees to the first 10 anglers via a drawing but not at all required.
One last thing, the money that they 'pocketed' from the entry fees? Is the way they generate operating capital. It cost money to run a successful club. I suggest you join a club, run for office, volunteer as tournament director, run an event or four (like my buddy Rick), and then check back in with us with a full report. Remember everyone is entitled to their own opinion on here....I'm just right.
Aaron,
In response to your quote:
"CCBC did a nice (albeit not necessary) thing by holding a drawing. The money equaled the prize payout if people would have actually caught fish!"
This is not true! I fished the event, and was one of the 10 teams to get $100 back. That's right I got $100 back, not my $120 that I paid! So if there was 27 teams, with about 5 late entry fees included, that would sum to $2,750. They paid 10 teams back $100each, so that sums to $1,000. This comes out to a 36% payback, not 80%! If you include the big fish money "assuming everyone bought in" then CCBC only paid back 33%. They pocketed over $2,000 in entry fees alone. It's quite apparent to me that your bias lays with CCBC, remember everyone is entitled to their own opinion on here.
Roy: WTF! your incoherent ramblings make NO sense...
This is a 'Pay to Play' sport.
1. Pay your entry fee
2. Fish by the rules
3. Do well? cash a check
4. Suck? cash NO check
CCBC did a nice (albeit not necessary) thing by holding a drawing. The money equaled the prize payout if people would have actually caught fish!
As for 'big fish'....THERE WASN'T ONE!
I have attended this event the last two years and believe it is a well run event and think the club I belong to should do more things like CCBC. That being said, I didnt totally agree with the pay out. Last year the TD declared at the drivers meeting that if no fish caught no pay out, that was OK with me it was clear. This year there was no mention and it happened, so they paid ten random teams there entry.!? Guess what....we were not one of the lucky ten. This same thing happened on lake Terrel Like ten years ago when I was TD and we were not prepared. What we did was gave participants the option of getting 80% of there money back or rolling 80% into there next club tourney. I cant say this was the best solution because it took nearly two years to straigten the books because some who attended and chose to roll it didnt attend another contest till the next year. I like the suggestion that you roll 80% into the next tourney payout with invites being sent to those who blanked. I will fish this tourney again next year if CCBC will have me. Its the most fun you can have giviing yourself tendenitis and not getting bit!
