The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I thought that would get your attention.
Yeh, it's about Lk Tapps. Many 'bank' fishermen and women have used the shorelines and Puget Sound Energy dikes the last couple of years for fishing and just taking a walk. I usually pick up some trash along these dikes on my fishing trips but lately it's way out of hand. My last trip and in only one cove filled two garbage bags plus many large objects that took up the floor of my boat for the rest of the day.
The main point I'm going to make here is that these folks are trespassing. The signs have been torn down but it's always been 'no trespassing' on these dikes.
Denny Bilderback(N. Tapps Pierce Co Park manager)and I had a long talk a week or so ago and he stated that many people even come into the park during closed hours via the PSE dikes and this is also trespassing. Denny said some of these folks have a lot of nerve climbing over or around fences to enter a closed park only to leave trash of let their dogs defacate.
Lk Tapps is like many other lakes as in it does not lend it'self well to shore fishing with all the private lands.
My recomendation to these folks is to use the park during 'legal, open' hours and come in through the main gate and pick up your garbage.
Fishermen have got to stick together(boat & bank) as one on these issues or we could find ourselves with closed gates. We've already got certain hours of use for the park simply because of problems similar to what I stated above. Lets not make it any tougher to fish than it already is.
Thank You
Mark

Just a little FYI: The park people stated that if a pass is purchased in lets say 2008, it will carry over till the NEW SEASON is billed, hence, "Start of Fishing Season 2009". We have purchased passes for the last 3 years, So, your accusations of theft are unfounded, insulting, & wrong! Many times I've read posts where my Husband has been slandered; I've never posted on any of the sites, even the one were not allowed to participate on. My friends & family have been harrassed, defamed, threatened, & YOU have the AUDACITY, to accuse my Husband of STEALING from the Park, we also help tend? Let me be very clear....the worst thing my Husband ever did, was to take you fishing....defend you when YOUR CHARACTER was slandered, & share fun & great times @ meetings & tourneys, Now, You have reached the highest modicum of judgement, "He with no sins". I must ask tho, if you had the permission from the homeowners, & etc. etc. etc. why did you protest so much, & slander Todd? If you were right all along, then be rightous to yourself, resolved in your truth, complacent in your words. Being a good steward is all we can expect of ourselves, & hope that others follow the same path....
Now I'm sure the insults will fly my way...that's cool, say what you want....there aren't too many avenues I haven't been insulted, however, I will not stand by & see my Husband slandered without supporting him. Now let me start you off with a good slam....Hey, did you know when gayle has to haul a$$, she makes two trips! Ha Ha Ha! I know I am fair game now....

I think most of the trash is from people leaving Bess' parties anyways.

Do you realize you are trying to reason with someone who can't use a period?
And you, Mr. Mark Wells, how dare you criticize littering and tresspassing? We need to avoid such controversial subjects here you rabble rouser.

Brett you really come off as a bad guy when you are posting, it seems you have a problem with guys that have boats in particular Mark.
Mark was simply stating that the slobs..... this must not include you, need to pick up after themselves. My club went out there a couple years ago and picked up a dumpster full of garbage.
If this continues then PSE will put all of the dikes off limits to everyone they won't have a choice...... then what would you do? I'm thinking that you get up at 330 because you are trespassing on private property, I don't know just a speculation, obviously you didn't ask the homeowner if you could pass through his property before you did, he caught you mid stride, thats probably why you haven't been back.
As far as homeowners not liking boat anglers, well that is too bad because they don't own the public water, they can't keep us off it, but they can and will keep you off the bank and dikes if the other people ruin it for you.

That whole road from the Texaco to the Park entrance looks like the public road to the dump.

Tons of trash along that road, more than ever. Alot comes from the people who park along there and party on the dikes.

its about time you bought a pass i mean how many times have you snuk in before 7;30 oh wait letsadd all the boats that get in early wow thats a alot so i feel you probably btill owe them more
Comment by Brett h Olson on June 15, 2009 at 9:52pm
well Todd good for you but i figured you would of gone a little longer sneaking in before 730 before you bought your pass but wait if there out of money then maybe thats because they havent charged all you boaters who sneak in under the wire over the years do the math they might even have a surplus but dont get me wrong i totally appreciate all that denny does for us but the park isnt my main fishing spot this time of year and when it is they dont charge if they charged in the fall and early spring id buy alifetime pass if i could and to all who know me i pick up trash all the time heck sunday iput out afire some kids left and i do it every summer because i actually care about my acess besides icant beleive mark is so worried about a few fishermen doing the same thing he loves to do .its not my fault he doesnt get up at 3;30am go to the bank on muskie bay and acess all those earlymorning muskie and as far as the N.E corner of dike 3 yes that is private but the homeowner is ok if your passing thru in fact ive talked to him several times and hes not to fond of boaters cause they catch there lures on his docks and other property .i havent fished there since he asked me .you boaters have 95% of the lake to fish bankies get 5% and add in jet ski.s skiers and now we have 2% if any thing so maybe mark instead of trying to get the joggers dog-walkers and bank fishermen kicked out of there little peice of the lake ought to help but i know he;d never do that

Spelling errors...P.S.E..and dire straights..money for nothin'. Sorry my bad!
Comment by Todd Reis on June 15, 2009 at 3:40pm
Well Brett, I will say to you..you've got nothing to worry about. You have the ok through P.G.E. and Pierce County then your all good. As far as being criminal..not sure where your going with that but..you should pay to use the park.. I will say that there is a "private property" "no tresspassing" sign right there on top of the dike. Its black n' red..If I'm not mistaken all the property south of the big power lines is Pierce County park property. Dike 4 side.I believe that is the only dike that has a sign posted.
And so as far as being a stewards I think you owe it to the park and to yourself to go and buy a $75 or $150 (non-Pierce County) park yearly pass. I bought mine 2 weeks ago and feel as though I did my part to help/contribute to the park district. Paying would indeed help support the park in which now is in need of as much funding as it can get. And in fact you use quite alot. And should appreciate all that those young men and women that work there do to give you such a great place to fish. If all the folks that use that launch or shoreline SHOULD go buy a pass. Or buy a daily entrance fee like everyone else then, I think, the parks would not be in such "dire staights" for money. As far as the trash..pick up after yourselves. That is actually littering and is ticket worthy. thanks.
