Going to upgrade the electronics (sonar/gps) on the boat. Thinking about the Humminbird® 788ci HD DI Sonar/GPS/Chartplotter Combo on the bow, transducer on the trolling motor, and Lowrance® HDS-7 Gen2 Fishfinder/GPS Chartplotter w/Lake Insight® and StructureScan® LSS-2 Sonar Imaging Bundle at the console/helm. Any input or advice on these devices would be great.

like others stated, stick with one brand, if you buy a lowrance, dont forget that in order to get s.i. and d.i. you need the box thats an extra $600
P.S. go with the biggest screen you can afford, it really helps seeing small details in si and di
I'm no expert, but I think a wise decision might be to go with one brand. I had a Lowrance on the bow and a Humminbird on the wheel on my old boat. It was fine, but it is nice to have the consistency and compatibility. Now I have 2 Humminbird GPS/SI units on my new boat and I can easily take waypoints off one and move them to the other when I am on the water since they are compatible. I'm a fan of Humminbird becasue I am a simple guy and those units just get the job done for me. They might not have some of the capabilities that the new Lowrance units do, but I wouldn't use them and I don't want to spend the extra money to get them.
