Hi Jason,

I haven't had the chance to use the Talon enough yet to give it an accurate review but all I can say is make sure you've got the updated mounting hardware, the old stuff is flawed bugtime. The nice thing about the Talon is it is very easy to install, comes with a remote and has some cool features such as rough water mode and auto up and down. The disadvantages are the frame always stays at the same height, unlike the power pole that goes all the way down and out of the way.

The powerpole is proven but takes some installation time for the unit, pumps and remotes, and money to buy the extras that the talon comes with.

Either way, if you only get one, you'll wish you had 2.

Hey Jason,
That's smart to do a lot of homework before buying a boat. I don't know about all the different manufacturers I just know what I've been in and what I've heard from Ron. I just love my 21X2. I tested it out in some ridiculously rough water between the bridges on Wa a couple of times now. The first time I wimped out but the next time I just went for it and got up on top of some nasty stuff. Way bigger waves than I ever thought I could go through like that. That hull just chews up the rough water, and is pretty fast too. It also is beamy and super stable to fish out of. Other boats may be good but I don't see how they could be better.

I saw the post you put on Eric's page, I was there the day that Dobyns got thrown out of the boat, It wasn't because of rollers it was going around a sharp corner. The Delta is not very rough maybe the main river and a couple of the lakes but other than that it is made up of small canals. I had almost the same thing happen to me in a z520 at Lake Wylie going around a point to go up a creek channel. You should really take Eric up on his offer the new Triton's are way more spacious on the front ends then they use to be.

Hi Jason,
I am not an expert by any stretch and I am reluctant to get negative about the Rangers but I have heard it from a few people. Before you buy one you should come for a ride with me. Jeff from Nixon's is going to be coming over in a couple of weeks and I'll bring my boat down. It is fast, handles rough water well, and is super easy to drive.
Talk to you soon and looking forward to meeting you
Eric

Hey there Jason, It was cool to see you at the big event yesterday... You looked pretty good in that Z-Boat too. Now you have something to dream about when you put your head on your pillow at night. Mel is a really nice guy. Give me a call when you get the chance. Later, Aaron

Sorry about the typo. My Triton has a 300hp Merc not a 200.

Hi Jason,
What kind of boat do you have now? I almost bought a Ranger last summer then I started hearing some stuff that made me reconsider. What I heard from a very reliable, well known local tournament fisherman was this: He was fishing a tournament in another part of the country and they provided a Ranger for him to use. He was turning at high speed, it started rocking, dropped the nose and basically spun out. He also told me that Gary Dobyns was thrown completely out of his Ranger on the Delta. This was widely reported. I researched it and bought a 21ft Triton with a Merc 200 on it. I love it. Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in.
