Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Let me start by saying that it's a damn shame that some people have made accusations (whether direct or indirect), to the integrity of the NWB circuit and to those teams that did well, specifically the winning team, who are stand out guys and have weighed bags of that sort in previous years, for cheating after this was found. It's really sad that guys put in hard work and instead of talking about the incredible bag 25+lbs that was weighed in, we are talking about a cage that more than likely was misconstrued as a tool for cheating at the NWB tournament.

On to the main subject here. Here's the statement from Northwest Bass:

Caging Issue: Northwest Bass Tri-Cities Qualifier

It has come to the attention of Northwest Bass that a cage found within official tournament waters has raised concerns about potential fish tampering during the June 11th qualifier on the river.  Tournament officials, upon notification of the cage, conducted all necessary investigations to ensure the integrity of all competitors and their catch for the day in question.

Officials for Northwest Bass have over forty years combined experience in operating fishing tournaments and contests and do not take these matters lightly.  Our goal is always to direct the events with integrity and attention to detail.  Our officials conduct weigh-ins with extreme scrutiny for signs of fish tampering.

In the days following the discovery of the cage we conducted an investigation into this issue.  No signs of tampering were found.  Because there was no evidence, probable cause or protests directed at any competing team, no further investigation was deemed necessary.  Northwest Bass has great respect for our angler base and therefore will not take part in a proverbial “witch hunt” without proper evidence of wrong doing.

Anglers are also strongly encouraged to review and maintain knowledge of current Northwest Bass rules and regulations.

Moving forward, we remind all competing anglers that fish tampering is prohibited by Northwest Bass.  Any infraction of this rule will result in disqualification.

So you piss ant spineless "Bernie / Hillary" supporters want to question two of the best guys we got in our sport. Bring your sorry ass my way, class will be in session.

What the hell are we doing? You pull this crap and I'm in support of parking your BS on the side lines. These two GENTLEMEN have my full respect and support. No wonder our sport is declining. You guys make me want to PUKE. If you cannot accept defeat and be a man, this sport is not for you.

I agree with Jordan, Jeff, Dana as well as. NWB crew. The speed at which this situation got escalated to assumptions of tournament cheating was unbelievable to me. I have had many interactions with all of the top finishers in that event and they are all teams with integrity, work ethic, experience, and dedication to the sport. People like that don't cheat!
If you're going to accuse someone of cheating have some balls and put you're name next to the accusation! There is NO WAY those guys would cage fish, no reason to when you catch em like they do! Again I say who is making these accusations

They don't need to cheat. They are class acts that put in their time and are blessed. Maybe the rest of you could learn from their hard work ethic. Sad day when you slackers pull this.

To those of you that are accusing, post something and quit hiding behind your insecurity. We are so pathectic.

With all the special interest groups attacking our rights to fish, we decide to attack ourselves?------Seems pretty stupid (IGNORANT) if you ask me.

I'm probably gonna get blasted for this. A lot of you don't know me because I'm not fishing the "big" tournaments any longer. I love this sport and I'm sick about what's going on here.

I've looked over these social media posts and haven't seen a single name mentioned or any specific accusations. IN NO WAY AM I SAYING ANY OF THE TEAMS WHO HAVE HAD RECENT SUCCESS SHOULD COME UNDER FIRE.

A cage like this probably wouldn't be used for anything other than cheating. It happens all the time all over the country and people go to jail over it.

In order to preserve the integrity of the sport we all love some changes might need to be made. I'm not sure what those changes are but something needs to happen.

Here's what's killing me. Why is the focus shifting to the person or people that brought this into focus? As far as I know it was a "blanket" statement that a cage was found and something needs to be done. My suggestion is this....it's a high probability that someone you/we fish against cheats. It happens all over the country and we aren't immune to it. Let's accept that and shift the focus on putting things in place so that it doesn't happen again.
I have posted several comments on this topic and not accused anyone. Just stated the facts. After the last two tournaments cages were found. That is enough to do something to make sure we don't have someone cheating. First you don't have to be the winner to cheat.
Second it might be that no one in NWB is cheating (I hope that's the case) but as I stated cages were found. They were put there by someone for something.
Yes, I'm lobbing for polygraphs. One for first and a random one to be drawn. At least everyone will have peace of mind and you protect the integrity of our sport.
Chris stated it perfectly.

Respectfully; Bill

Guys,

Stop the drama!!!  I know most of you well and respect all of you, that I know of.  If you want to divide the fisherman, the sport, and the circuits, you are well on your way to doing so.

Dana stated it well earlier when he said, "With all the special interest groups attacking our rights to fish, we decide to attack ourselves?------Seems pretty stupid (IGNORANT) if you ask me...."

And I agree with Dana.

Yes, I publicly posted a picture of a cage and said something needs to be done about it.  Have I publicly implicated anyone?  No.  Do I think the winners are solid fisherman? Yes.  Did I have some intense words with Boomer?  Yes, I did...Because I felt like I was being put on the chopping block because I posted something that is clearly an issue, and not much is being done about it at this point, and I was attacked about it.  It wasn't until after multiple cages were found and nothing was done that I felt the need to say something, because it makes me sick to my stomach.  I want to keep the integrity of this sport alive!

If any of you want to publicly bash ME even though I haven't publicly bashed anyone, just realize you are doing exactly what you say shouldn't be done.  And realize this is a country of free speech.  I am tired of liberals, terrorists, WDFW, promulgating lies and b.s. just as much as any of you.  And I'm also tired of cages being found, cheaters, and checks and balances that aren't in place.  I challenge you all to type in "bass fishing cheaters" online.  There are pages after pages after pages of stories, unfortunately.  It's a sad fact of the world we live in.

I have been very careful not to mention any circuit in particular.  Northwest Bass is an amazing circuit.  Jeff has done some great things with it, surely with the help of Gary who is an amazing, knowledgeable dude.  Russ Baker has done great things with BBT.  I love seeing Tag, Castillo, my buddies and others do what they do best: catch huge fish!  Angie has done a wonderful job listening to the anglers.  A gal running a circuit?!  Now that's freakin' cool!

I love this sport as much, or more, than many of you.  I want to keep the integrity of it.  If you consider calling attention to the truth, cages and cheating, an issue, then you need to check yourself.

Now, I'm going to go now and "pound sand."  If any of you want to have it out, let's meet at a lake.  $50 bucks to whoever catches the biggest fish, and bragging rights.  Yeah, Boomer would probably take my money.  I still love the competition, though.

Broken down piece of duck blind that someone deems a cage on potholes.

I don't have any issues with people talking about the fact or posting pictures about a cage that was found. I'm taking issue with anyone that is dragging a teams integrity through the mud without any evidence/proof whatsoever.

Where was another cage found besides this one??

Probably used in Columbia basin club tourney
