2016 is the last year I purchase a fishing license....until the WDFW changes their tact towards warmwater fisheries

This looks like the WDFW's main agenda to me......(they would never need to ask tax payers again to raise our license fees)

• Inflation.  The proposal would provide for an inflation adjustment every two years.  This would allow WDFW to maintain ongoing operations without having to seek larger increases every few years to address the erosion of buying power.

So you buy only a fresh water license. That's less than $5. Why does a fresh water angler need more. Seems alot more tactfull to us than the saltwater and salmon anglers are looking at. See you on the water next year!

I am with you Jon..

I am a Salmon angler as well as a bass angler, so I bought a saltwater license this year like I usually do.  That is going to be useless to me this year considering they are not going to have a Coho season in my local marine areas and the summer Chinook season is going to be a joke! I cant return that tho so I'm totally with Jon on this one.  I paid for something that is totally useless because of the management and negotiating skills of the WDFW.  Not to mention paying for a freshwater license when the closest body of water to me (Lake WA) was closed for a month and a half!

My question is why is ALL the focus on outdoorsmen, when pleasure boaters and ski/wake boats use the same facilities as much if not more at some locations. Maybe I'm the minority, but I think they should be responsible for the bill also.
I agree that the root of the problem is the state managing there assets poorly and warmwater not getting a fair hand at the table. So the question I have is how do we implement change

Outdoorsman are the majority but we are divided this I believe is the problem, you need all outdoorsman to unite against Olympia not just one small group of bass or salmon fisherman. We are up against commercial fishing and Tribal lobbyists, plus we are also facing the WDFW.

Ski/wake boats and I'll throw in jet ski pay their own bills. I'm going to say 70% of boat launches they use around my area have a fee. Plus all the gas, food, lodging and other things they buy to support local communities. What you are suggesting sounds like taxation without representation (We have enough fees and taxes in this state)

We implement change by joining together that means all outdoorsman from hikers to fisherman, hunters, campers and even ski/wake boat or jet skiers. We are the WDFW main source of revenue and we have the numbers to make a difference. The only problem we have is we won't stand together, We are a divided society and easier to manipulate, And those are democratic ideals on how to grow bigger government and take our rights from us. So until we join together instead of arguing with each other nothing will change.

The article you refer to Rodney was posted may 7th........And It looks like the WDFW's response was to raise all fees across the board, hence the topic.......

I posted the link to the CCA because this site contains a lot of the historical information on the early treaties and court rulings that have a big effect on how the WDFW has to try to manage in a way that is best for all. The WDFW is on the sportsman's side. Yes there are those who will argue against that, but do they really know the full story. From what has been posted I think not, just flying off the handle with threats to participate in illegal activities. The best way to win what is a long fight is to get involved in the lobby process, have you written letters to all the politician's of your district. For those of that have, that form letter standard response may seem impersonal, but your voice has been heard and they are tracking the numbers. Are you voting for those that will support your cause, you got to vote for your cause.
As for all the people who state they will no longer buy a license or fish in this state are compounding the facts that can be used against you. With license sales down and going down is not the numbers needed for the WDFW to fight for you. Increased license sales will work in your favor in the long run. Take your complaints about fee increases to those you vote for to represent you in the government, tell them the WDFW is under funded.
For those of you who pay dues to the FLW and BASS, are they in it for you?
It takes a united front from all sportsmen to make a difference.

"Underfunded" My ASS!

2011-2013 Biennium $366.5 Million

2013-2015 Biennium $375.6 Million 2.5% increase

2015-2017 Biennium $415.6 Million 9.7% increase

....yet they say because they are spending $10 Million less than they want to - it's a cut. They aren't getting my money next year.

They are claiming 1,500 FTE Employees which equates to $138,533.00 per employee per year...

BASS and FLW may not do a lot for us, but they aren't ACTIVELY WORKING AGAINST US EITHER, and their dues are voluntary.

I'm not sure who is flying off the handle with illegal threats? The only threat I seen posted was to stop buying a fishing license. (That is freedom of choice!) If we all choose not to buy a fishing license in 2017 that might actually bring change, not a long drawn out letter writing campaign or voting for a dishonest politician. Also if the WDFW get's their way every two years they can raise our license fees. (No politician needed!) You even said yourself Rodney it takes a united front from all sportsman to make a difference.
