Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I have been using the E series for the past couple of years.  Curado and Citica.  I was in the store the other day and picked up a few of the new models. I'm not talking the Metaniums or Antres, I'm talking the 70s and Citica.  I have been happy with the older reels and have taken the time to upgrade the bearings and gear sets, but parts are getting harder to come by and the prices are high on replacements.  Has anyone else made the jump to the new style and left the Es in the past?

Well look who came out of hibernation. Now where is Bess?

Mr. Potter back in action. Gotta admit, I miss the anticipation of what his post will bring to the discussion.

I also like the newer reels!

Dana- first off, how great is today, January 20th?

Yesterday was like day 1 of the Nixon's tournament at around 2:45 when you are pretty sure you have 21+ but you can't allow yourself to completely relax because you haven't officially weighed them yet.

Today feels a lot like dinner with your buddies who made it after you know you made it.

....you really don't want to know where Mrs. Bess is.

Ironically I spent 30 minutes on the phone with Delay yesterday.

A great day it is. Living 25 miles from the Canadian border on I-5 made the commute home today enjoyable. I witnessed moving vans, rental trucks, and crap strapped to the top of VW's all racing towards the border. If I'm not mistaken, a bus full of LGBTQ was leading the pack flying a Canadian flag, smoking the herb of life and chanting "OH CANADA".

As for reels, I have a bunch of Core's and they have been bullet proof. I'm currently trying out some of the Metaniums and like Berto said "they don't get much better". I also prefer the Chronarch C14+ over the Curado I series, I don't like the way that the new Curado feels in my hand and the thumb bar sits a little to high on the reel for my liking.

I have about a half dozen early Curados, a Curado SF, and two recent issue Chronarchs. I like the Curados because they feel so very strong and bulletproof. The Chronarchs work just as well, but feel so light they're like "Nerf Reels" or something, ya know? I have one of them on a Falcon BuCoo 6'6" MH and the whole rig is so light it doesn't seem very serious. I use it for swim jigs, but kinda wish it was 7' and stiffer.

So can I assume that G. Loomis NRX rods are "Nerf Rods"? If so, I'm a full supporter of "Nerf Fishing". And most of the guy's I fish against, we can call it "Nerd Fishing".

"Feelings" shouldn't enter the discussion. Heavier doesn't mean stronger. Take for instance my partner Mike Bess, pretty big dude by all accounts...total puss!

The newer materials are lighter AND stronger or just as strong in most cases. It's the best of both worlds! Last spring I picked up my old IMX flipping stick. It's probably 15 years old. It felt like I was fishing with an Olympic weight lifting bar.

And you thought I had "FEELINGS". If I had feelings I would take up barbless hook fly fishing, with a bag of Granola in my back pocket and a baggie of "Chief" stuffed in my sock drawer.

I would never accuse you of having any feelings. I was making reference to Steve's comment.
