Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

The Evergreen Bass Club is seeking your input for next years tournament. Even if your not a tournament angler, we want to hear from you! It will most likely be held on Lake Sammamish in February. The guaranteed big fish pot will be back! We've thrown around the idea of making the big fish option, an individual option. Our numbers, were down a little last year, and we want this thing to grow! All the proceeds from this tournament go directly to our Soldier Fishing Event. That's correct, the proceeds benefit the men and women who serve your country, not our club! What will it take to get you to come out for this thing? What has drawn you to this event before? What don't you like about this event? Is there a way we can run things smoother? Was the free food, and drinks to your standards? Raffle thoughts? Better ways we can recognize our sponsors? How many of you would purchase a gourmet coffee that would support our cause if we had a coffee truck there selling lattes, mochas, and other specialty items? How many of you who don't have a boat/partner would be inclined to fish if we could set you up with someone?

How many of you remember the Big Bass Blast Event's that used to be held on Lake Washington? What were your thoughts on that?

There are many open tournaments out there to chose from, but rarely do they directly benefit outstanding causes like this! Please consider fishing this event next year. We promise to do our best in meeting your standards!

One of the things that has worked for Puyallup in the past is trying to come up with original ideas, like holding the first open of each year on Lake Samamish. Maybe Evergreen could sit down and try to think of some original ideas too.

Maybe I misunderstood your statement Aaron but isn't this event the first open of the season and also on Lake Sammamish...?

Chad,

I have fished it 4 times and the biggest turnout was the first. It was also the best weather of the 4 I have been to. I don't think there is a whole lot you can do about the weather and I don't even know if it impacted turnout or not. It was just an observation.

I think you guys do a great job and I won't ever miss one unless they close the pass before I get over it.

You didnt misunderstand. Puyallup had been holding the first open of the year on lake samamish every year since the 90's. Until the last few years.

Chad, everyone is down. I think it has to do with the huge amount of tournaments available and the increase in cost at the fuel pumps and launches. I blame obama.

Lowering the cost of your entry fee is one way or Seeking the support of outside sponsorship are the two things that come to mind .

Aaron is spot on regarding our nations leader  !!  Due to increase cost directly relating to Obama care requirements i was "forced" to purchase medical insurance this year and yes that has cut into my tourney funding for the season .

As for the fuel cost , shhhhh_tt  We all have been taking it up the rear end for the past three years at the pump.

BBD

Dez says im right, so that settles it.

Gas prices are down so that is a lame excuse, and lame was the first thing that came to mind regarding your opening comment...

We are far from any sort of settlements here brother !!  Bass fishing has always been a privilage to us all from day one . I just hate the fact that so many variables that has taken place in this country has direclty impacted our fishing community .

Remember the good old days of us simply been fustrated with rising cost on fuel ?  Now in the year 2013 we all deal with increase cost with matters like expensive Permits , higher launch fee's , Unemployment , healthcare cost , etc . All of these items directly effects whom might or might not show up to the next bass event .

My point here is that i don't personaly believe Evergreen bass club efforts to increase participation has to do with lake location or time of year in my most honest opinion.

This event in particular , provides support to the folks that have defended our nation . That is an excellant ideal and what a great way for us all to have an oppertunity to "give back" .  However Even with that being stated , it still doesnt change any random anglers day to day financial struggles or family commitments unforchantly. As mentioned before we are far from any sort of settlements as we potentialy are headed into yet another war .

Okay guys i gotta get back to work , i truley miss the days when i could stay and chat on these threads .

$3.60 is hardle down. Lame comeback bro.

$3.60 sounds awesome. We are always near $4 in Bellingham...

How about a change in venue to Washington..... This lake in the winter has the ability to kick out a 5+ smallie on any given day.  It's a bigger body of water, a little tougher to fish because of that, but also would allow guys to spread out a little more.  Now if it does stay on Sammamish, fine,  it's a little easier to fish, not as much running around, tighter weights.  Either is a good choice, but my vote would be a change of venue to Washington with a launch at Mercer Island.

Mark

Mark,

Thanks for the input. Initially I was up for moving it to Washington, but then we noticed that participation didn't increase when the Hawg-Hunters moved their early tournament to that location. I'm with you, I would rather fish Washington, but I think the bigger water intimidates a lot of people. Still I plan on taking all input to our meeting on Tuesday, so we can move forward with this event. We want to see what it's going to take to get people there. There is a lot of anglers on here we haven't heard from. Even if it's going to take a zero entry fee to get you there, we want to know that.
