Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Guys and Gals,

Hopefully by now most of you know about a proposal to eliminate pan fish limits in our lakes and understand the negative effects it could have on our fisheries. Please go "Oppose" this proposal and give comments on the WDFW site as to why this will hurt us all. Please do this before the deadline of November 30, 2017.

See Below

Policy Proposal: Eliminate pan fish special limits

Eliminate pan fish special limits

Action: Remove daily limits for pan fish species, such as bluegill and pumpkinseed, on specific waters.

Justification: Special limits are not showing benefits to populations.

Thanks for sharing. Commented and OPPOSED
Yup, done and commented this is a bad idea, especially for some crappie lake that are vulnerable to over fishing. Has this department declared war on warm water species under the heading of " simplifying regulations"?

Thank you Russ for getting the word out!

The WDFW is proposing to eliminate all size and numbers limits on perch, crappie, and bluegill on the Potholes Reservoir, Moses Lake, and Banks Lake.

This would be a terrible step backwards! Most of you know that I am managing the MarDon Resort store - and live on site. I have fished the Reservoir for 35 years and this year I have experienced the best bass - largemouth and smallmouth, walleye, and crappie fishing since 2004. Many of you know the tournament weights indicate that these are extremely healthy and robust fisheries - our weights meet and exceed most of the premier and classic tournament waters across the country .

The panfish fisheries offer excellent fishing for crappie, bluegill and perch in their own right - and more importantly these fisheries provide the forage base for largemouth, smallmouth, and walleye! Without the limits - that are currently in place - the forage base will disappear - literally - by the truckload!

Between the current panfish limits and CWFAC's habitat restoration efforts - we have a very balanced and thriving fishery!

Please - each and everyone that reads this - go to the WDFW website and OPPOSE this proposal - and  comment if you would like to voice your opinion.

Thank you!

Commented and opposed!!!!! Wdfw has already screwed up salmon and steelhead fishing in our state!! Don't let them do it to our warm water species. Get involved now before it's to late!!!

Commented and opposed.  Thank you for posting, Russ!  Great insight, Pete.  Thank you for sharing.

Who comes up with this bullsh*t? Wait, I know, the geniuses in Oly. Commented and opposed, thanks for posting

If you are lucky you will be able to stretch enough to stick your D**K in your own ASS after the WDFW takes it all away, it might be the only pleasure left in life. I opposed and continue to ponder why we try to even work with the WDFW? For the record, I never enjoyed a S**T sandwich for lunch.

Thank you all for your comments and input! This is actually an issue that we may be able to affect!

I get the bitching 100% and agree with it 100%! But - if you don't vote - you can't bitch. Please voice your opinion by going to the WDFW site - the link that Russ provided -  click oppose and leave a comment if you would like.

It's really up to us at this point and I truly feel that we - as a group of sportsmen, sportswomen and families - can keep the current regulations in place on these awesome fisheries.

I live on the Potholes Reservoir - have fished here for 35 years - and this fishery is the healthiest that I have seen it since around 1980. The largemouth and smallmouth fishing is incredible - as year after year - we have 20 -25lb+ weights for 5 fish!  These weights compete nation-wide!

If this proposal goes through - the forage base for our prized fish and fishing efforts go with it!

Please continue to bitch about it - but - make sure you oppose it - TAKE ACTION!

Thank you all!

Pete,

Like yourself, I've been fishing Potholes for over 30+ years. This is why I will be soon calling this place home. Potholes is fishing incredible, I would hate to see the WDFW screw this up like they have so many other fisheries in our state. If you have not opposed this proposed regulation change, please vote and in your comments tell the WDFW to pull their head out of their ASS.

Thank you everyone that drove up to our state capital in Olympia this past saturday to attend/support the WDFW public hearing regarding the proposed simplification bill . Mostly everyone displayed a Very Clear and Defined opposition towards the proposed bill with class and respect.

All of the Emails , Phone calls and the overwhelming display of concerned anglers whom also gave public testimonies made a hugh impact with WDFW. Thank you guys for helping to protect our fisheries today and in the future !

Now its up to the WDFW Commissioner to vote down this bill!!!!  (God help us)

I just wanted to say Thank you from the bottom of my heart everyone for doing your part and showing the state that we do in fact care about our lakes .
