So hit Washington today, bluebird skies and light wind from the North. Not exactly prime conditions. I managed my best day ever for winter time weight.
I got 6 fish total with the best 5 going just over 20lbs.
5lb 12oz
4lb 3oz
3lb 10oz
3lb 9oz
3lb 8oz
and a 2lb 4oz rat.
Essentially trolling while keeping in contact with the bottom. Mark and I run our rev rigs a little different. I use a 3 way swivel off a 15lb test main line. From the 3 way run a 12" leader down to a 3 or 4oz cannon ball sinker. Off the other end, run a 4 to 5' leader to a crankbait of your choice. Many, including myslef use either jointed shad raps or jointed minnows. Troll fast enough, so that your bouncing off the bottom every so often. It's deadly on Washington in the winter time, and is a great way to cover lots of water.
Hi Ken,
Welcome to the site. As to rev rigging, it's what Chad wrote. There are little tweaks and variation's that you can make to leader legnth's to the weight and crankbait. But essential, it's a great tool for covering huge amounts of water in the winter time. The smallies in Washington and Sammamish spread out all over the place and you need to cover alot of water to catch fish in the winter.
