The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Ok, I need some help. I decided to spring for my first bait-casting rod and reel combo. I've found some affordable set-ups but after handling some I'm confused. I apologize for my ignorance, but most reels have the reel on the right side. After playing around with some of these I decided I'm uncomfortable with this probably because I'm used to using a spinning rig. I cast and work the rod with my right hand and reel with my left. I've found some set-ups on-line that have the handle on the left side but now I'm wondering if there is a good reason it's always on the right side. Don't want to order a reel on line I won't be able to use. Would appreciate some expert advice on this. Is this a personal preference thing or is it on the right side for very good reason?

trust me, i fully support local tackle dealers, it was a good deal at the time so i bought it, i just said start out with something like finding a good deal and starting off there
Growing up using a spincasting reel I've been used to reeling in with my left hand so I've always just bought left handed baitcasters. I really like shimano reels. The curado and citica both I like quite a bit
I use both right hand and left hand baitcasters. For pitchin I like a left hander so I'm not constantly switching hands but for most everything else I fish a right hander. A good reel for the price is the Shimano Caenon, comes in both right and left hand retrieve. Mike.
