Hey Rick,

I haven't fished Black Lake in recent years but it is definitely one of my favorite lakes in Thurston County (where I grew up).  Black Lake offers some nice acreage to explore, has a diversity of cover (and some structure) available and harbors quality largemouth and smallmouth bass.  Late March can be hit or miss depending on the conditions you encounter but you'll put yourself in a position to catch your biggest fish of the year.  My biggest largemouth out of Black Lake is only a little over 8 lbs. but largemouth in the 9-10 lb. range have been caught and smallmouth up to 6+ lbs.  I'd say give it a go!

Good luck,

Tag

I agree with Tag, few bites but nice fish, pay close attention to weather and water temp. shallow areas will warmup fast in the afternoon sun and there will be no swimmers so fish the swimming areas/beaches.

Hit or miss exactly as Tag said. I weighed a 8+ for a guy last year.
