I have really enjoyed throwing a speed trap this year, but because it only weighs 1/4oz I usually dont get as much distance as I'd like. Do any of you guys have any tips or tricks that help you cast light lures father on baitcasting gear?

That was my long cast too. I almost caught the fish with my first cast that went like 15 feet so I really chucked it the next time, lol. It didn't matter when the fish was about 10 feet from the boat. You had me on them no doubt. About five minutes before that you pointed where to cast and I had a 3lber on the trap (not speed).
I think Grimes has bitten off more than he can chew with his ridiculous challenge but oh well he deserves another humiliation if he is going to act this way.

You made a cast that was all of 20 ft and caught a 6.3 smallie. I guess I had you on the X.
I have a small but possibly well know method of improving casting and distance.
Using a bait caster, upon making the cast, roll the reel and wrist to your left if R handed or opposite if L handed. This allows the spool to free spool more easily feeding the line out further.
Not only does it help with that distance and speed but also minimizes birdnesting, etc.
My problem is always remembering to do it.
I'll try it.
