Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Had the misfortune of having my grip slip yesterday and condemning my crankbait rod to 30' of water. We marked the spot on gps and hope to go back with the underwater camera in the near future. Anyone here ever have any luck resurecting gear from a watery grave, and if so, what did you use for retrieval? I'm sure the reel will have to be completely gone through after extended immersion. I hate to leave such a nice combo on the bottom and looking for ideas to make it a one trip endeavor.
Thanks

Sparky's idea is a tried and true old-time system that really works well. The metal stringer with all clips open is the quickest way to retrieve almost anything.

ciao,
Marc
if it makes you feel any better I dropped a pair of $15 cutters in the water yesterday so I could retrieve a snagged $2 lure.
Let's see Seung, 17 bucks vs 400...Doubt it but thanks for trying! :)

Makes perfect sense to me Seung! I hope you were successful.
Some other ideas. 1.) Take several options with you to attempt your retreival, don't bet on one thing. 2.) Try poly rope instead of the rod and line with the weighted treble hooks. 3.) Large magnets on a rope, guaranteed that reel has a steel handle but test against a similar.... magnets have the advantage of not having to make that perfect hookup, just get close. 4.) It may be worth it to get someone with scuba gear to retrieve it.

Finally I want to know the trailer color on that football.....;o)
