Washington Fishing

So with this drop in temp I went out fishing last week found the bite real slow
only fish caught was on hard swimbait. Any advice on the fall bite with these cold temps would be appreciated.

Deeper until the fall bite acually starts. Probably in a week after the rain next week.

I got a few pounders this morning from 7am til 10am.

My advise is too just the weather the storm David and look forward to november bassing , we are well into the the "transition stage" . Kinda simular to the transition from postspawn to summer . The fish get into a funk and the bite gets tuff untill the weather stables out over a period on time . It seems like every year we fish the mickleson on lk washington we are faced with these same challenges and because of this the weights are extremly low .. im still fishing it , lol !!

im so sick of sitting on this couch. if i could be at work i would be. cause when they cut out in a minute i would be on silver. but no. im here with a sick kid. you i dont like work. but i cant fish if i miss work cause my kid is sick. or can i? i think im gonna go pick up some swimbaits tonight or tomorrow.
Thanks Dez I just wasnt sure how long it takes for the fall bite to come it. The weather on the eastern side of the state has been quite cold , water temps have dropped 15 deg in the last 2 weeks. Just not sure how to fish the fall bass, same as summer?, deeper?, more swimbaits?

I dont spend much time on the eastside in the fall , Your wheather over there is slightly different . I think some of guys on here that spend more time over there during the fall will be more insightful . I assumed you live over here on the westside ..

Last weekend I was at Silver and the bass seem to really enjoy spinnerbaits with a fast retrieve.
The water temps were in the low 60's,I would have thought the last thing they'd want would be a fast moving bait. My uneducated line of thinking suspected that they would be a bit more slow moving and not wanting to burn up a bunch of energy.....but I was wrong(duh)
I'll be at it again this weekend but since spinnerbaits work so well last weekend...well,I'll be trying everything under the sun.
Good luck

I am right there with you Kevin. Still trying to get a handle on what the Bass want and when. In the end I think more time on the water to increase my experience is one of the best directions. And it is spring somewhere ... right?
David,

Forget all that West side advice. Think spring right now on the East side.... similar baits and locations. Many of those spring hot spots are good again now and most of the same baits as well. You should be able to catch fish shallow on reaction baits. It does feel a lot more like the end of November than the beginning of October on the East side. It was 29 at my house this morning and the wind was blowing 20+. It is supposed to be 19 when we roll out of the sack tomorrow morning. It has been a few days since I have been on the water but it should be a crankbait/spinnerbait program right now.
Thats what got me, last weekend at Newman I was getting some fish but only on the hard swimbait with a quick retrieve. I was like you thinking they would be in energy conservation. I will def give the spinners and crankbait more of a look.

This is the last hoorah of feeding before winter. Think about how awesome the fishing gets in the spring when the water finally cracks that 50 degree mark consistently. Are the fish active or in conservation mode at 50 degrees?
