Washington Fishing

Going to Chambers in Oly this weekend for the first time. Taking my big bro out (his first time out there, too). Any words of wisdom from you all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, y'all!

I drove by Chambers lake about an hour ago and was wishing I was out there. It looks like a lot of the pads are starting to die off and turn brown. I would focus on trying to find some offshore grass or pads that are still alive and green. That's where most of the bait and bass should be since it will have more oxygen....good luck!
gotta say my best times at chambers , and it took me awhile to figure this out, was to be real slow with plastics. letting them sit for a good 10 seconds or more really gets the bit on. good luck.
well, how did you do?
We fished hard. Pads. Middle. Deepish. Edges. Hit almost all the lake. Threw spinners, senkos, crankbaits, dropshots, swimbaits and jigged quite a bit too. I got one little fella in the last 15 minutes of a 6 hour morning and big brother got skunked. Felt fishy, though the whole time. Just didn't like what we were throwing. It was pretty windy and we were getting pushed around quite a bit. I wonder if we worked our stuff too too fast. Thanks for the words from you fellas. Nice lake and I look forward to getting back down here soon. Now back to bellingham.
Hey Matthew,

It sounds like you guys had a solid game plan and executed it the best you could considering the windy conditions. There is very little protection on Chambers from a south wind. It also sounds like you did a good job of throwing a variety of baits and working different areas/depths. The fact that you said it felt fishy the whole time meant that you were fishing with confidence which is very important.

I love largemouth fishing in late October and early November but it can be hit and miss in my experience. I would encourage you to give it another shot if you have the opportunity. You might just smoke 'em on your next outing. Thanks for the report and good luck if you make it out again.

Hook 'em hard,

if you get back down this way, you should hit up long lake. been doing well lately there in about 10-15' .
May not get down to Oly for another couple of months, but I will put Long Lake on the to do list. I haven't been there in 15 or so years when I caught a 2lb rainbow with power bait. I need to get back out there to redeem myself.

You are in the Bellingham area, right? Have you been out anywhere other than Whatcom lately? And thanks for the encouragement. Only been at this for about six months and I have never had so much fun in my life. What a treat!
