Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Finding myself newly single, I'm ready to go on the fishing adventure of a lifetime.  At least a good one anyway.  I'm not really sure where to start looking, as I'm not one to really go on guided trips.  I've considered Lake El Salto, Clear Lake, Lake Erie, or maybe something on the saltwater, or even a steelhead adventure somewhere.  I was hoping some of you guys might have ideas, suggestions, and hopefully some specific guides or guide companies that you recommend.  Time of year would be good to know too.  Money isn't necessarily an issue.  Help me out!

I want to do a guided trip this year too. Looking forward to feedback.

That lake Lanier looks incredible.

I Know a couple that has owned a Resort on Lake Fork since the early 80's.  The Guy was a former BASS professional ( before it was famous) and one hell of a guide.  He and his wife are great people and hosts...and they have some great guides that work out of their property.  I highly recommend their place.  It is about 2 hours from DFW airport.....and you would have to pack your own gear , or if you have time.....you can drive and get a guide for a day or two and then fish out of your own boat.  It is cheaper than Mexico....and any cast could be a 10-16 lber.  We have had many days with each of us catching 10 or more over 7 lbs along with 20 or 30 from 4 to 7 lbs each....

Feb and March is PRE Spawn and Spawn time....( chance for big ones)

March- April and May......Post Spawn.....( smaller fish...but lots of 5-7 lbers)

Summer....is hotter than hell....and fish are deep.....except for topwater in the morning.....they also do a lot of night fishing

Go to Brazil and fish for Peacocks!! You only live once and you might even be able to pick up a hot Brazilian chick while your at it!!

Talk with Steve Hasting about his trip to Mexico (I think El Salto).  They caught a lot of big largemouth and had margaritas and chips/salsa waiting for them when they came in for their afternoon siesta/massage hour...I hope to get down there some time!

I think it would be a lot of fun to take a trip back East and fish as a co-angler on the FLW Tour.  There's a tournament on Champlain this Fall I was thinking about.  You could get a good fishing trip in on a new lake, have a "pro" as a guide, and write it off since it's a tournament.  That sounds like a win/win.

I like the way you think jr

Hi Ben! If you want to stay close call Cooch and book a trip on the Calf Delta! great guy and knows how to catch the big ones! Your friend Bill

.....Ron you told me you got a Brazilian last week but I'm pretty sure you were still in country.

The only guided trips I have done were on the salt and I would do one again in a heartbeat. Go visit www.rancholeonero.com. Rancho Leonero is a fishing camp that is on the Baja Penninsula on the Sea of Cortez side. You can fish the blue water for tuna and marlin or fish the inside for giant rooster fish and Durado. I did both but preffered fishing the in-shore stuff rather than troll around. The coolest part of the salt is that you never know what you are going to catch. The in-shore stuff is all sight fishing in relatively shallow water as well. When I was there we saw everything we cast to. This camp is fairly isolated but is only 110km from Cabo. I would go in July because that is when the fishing is the best. The other cool part about the summer time is that there are less people an it is considerably cheaper. The fish start to show up in June but really load up on the East Cape in July. It is a very reasonably priced trip. It has been a few years since I have been down but one of my buddies goes twice a year and will be going again this year.

El Salto will be a trip you will remember forever.  And you can fish saltwater for a day or so at Mazatlon.  I go every other year, and won't stop till I drop.  There is a group of WA anglers leaving in late February.  Call Al Seibert up if you would like to be included in the group and see if he can fit you in.

Here's my 2 cts worth.  If you like to eat, sleep, and fish (not necessarily in that order) give this site a try:

What is Al Seibert's number, do you know?

I would stay in the States before I would go to Mexico to fish for bass!  Seriously go to the Delta in late March split it with Clear Lake and bingo way better trip.  The last time I went to the Delta in March I caught about 5 fish in the 8-10 pound range in 2 days and many more fish over 5.  The Year before my dad got one that weighed 13  and again caught tons of fish, It is way cheaper and we are keeping out money in the country.  The other thing is that I would hate to pay a guide to show me how to bass fish I would just assume to do it myself, and pay the guide to stay onshore.  I think personally I would get more fullfillment out of catching fish I never caught especially for the money.  Roosterfish as Potter brought up is at the top of my list along with dorado.  I think I would love to go fish mangroves for baby tarpon, snook, and redfish as well.
